NCAA Football – BCS Bow Game Predictions
August 17, 2009
It’s never too early to throw-out some predictions for the BCS Bowl Championship Series. With college football betting starting very shortly, it makes sense for fans to start thinking about the BCS.
After all, a glimpse into the BCS Bowl Championship Series could very well help online bettors decide who to bet and who not to bet during the year. So, without any more time wasting, here are my fearless predictions for the 2010 BCS Bowl games.
2010 BCS Bowl Games
Jan 1st games
Rose Bowl
USC Trojans vs. Penn State Nittany Lions – - I just don’t see Penn State losing more than a single football game in 2009 and that might be to Ohio State, who no doubt will get throttled by USC in September. So, with Ohio State having two losses in the Big Ten and Penn State only having one, it makes sense the peg the Nittany Lions to make it to the Rose Bowl.

USC? They will lose a game as well and because their schedule, like always will be downright awful compared to Florida and Texas, the Trojans will fall just short of getting into the BCS Championship game.
Sugar Bowl
Mississippi Rebels vs. Notre Dame – - The Rebels should be the second best team in the SEC after Florida. I do believe that Ole Miss could struggle some early on in the season but by mid-season they will be well on their way to a major bowl game. Let’s make it the Sugar Bowl where they will face Notre Dame who might or might not go to the Fiesta Bowl instead. I’ll keep Notre Dame here for now because the Irish should have a good season and, for some reason, playing in the Sugar Bowl just sounds cool.
Jan. 4th game
Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma Sooners vs. Ohio State Buckeyes – - The Buckeyes make a BCS game every season and this season should be no different as Ohio State should have Terrelle Pryor pulling a Vince Young for most of the season. The Buckeyes figure to lose two games and might end up in the Sugar Bowl as an at large, but I see them going to Tempe for the Fiesta Bowl.
As far as Oklahoma is concerned, finishing with a single loss won’t get them to the BCS because of who they will lose to, but it might get them to Tempe. Sam Bradford vs. Terrelle Pryor in the desert? I can’t wait!
Jan. 5th game
Orange Bowl
Rutgers Scarlett Knights vs. Virginia Tech Hokies – - Look about but the geniuses from Rutgers could very well win the Big East which would propel them into the Orange Bowl against the winner of the ACC. Rutgers has a much easier schedule this year and Louisville, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati figure to be worse in 2009 then they were in 2008.
With a bit of luck, Rutgers will be playing on January 5th.
Virginia Tech ended up in the Orange Bowl in 2008 and should do so again in 2009 even though they have issues at quarterback. Their just too well coached to lose to any of the other teams in the Big East.
Jan. 7th game
BCS Championship Game
Florida Gators vs. Texas Longhorns - – Forget about it. This is almost a foregone conclusion in my mind. The Florida Gators no doubt will be impossible to stop on offense and impossible to score on when they are on defense in 2009 with Tim Tebow returning at quarterback and that defense even faster than 2009.
The Longhorns have a terrific defense and an explosive offense. Texas has that look about them. This is going to be a great battle with possibly the top two finishers in Heisman Trophy balloting, Tebow and Colt McCoy for Texas, leading their respective teams.
Again, forget about it. This is the BCS Championship game in 2010.
