NCAA College Football Predictions – Arkansas To Rout LA-Monroe
September 11, 2010
Ryan Mallet had a coming out party of his own last weekend against Tennessee Tech, encouraging some handicappers to predict a college football prediction that he might actually make good on the Heisman Trophy this year. While the Razorbacks have a layup game against LA-Monroe this weekend, it’s not one they can afford to take lightly. Despite a win last weekend, Arkansas stayed stagnant in the AP Top-25.
Even Arkansas knows that they were sloppy in their season opener. Tennessee Tech led after the first quarter which should be absolutely inexcusable for the Razorbacks. They eventually won 44-3, but it shouldn’t take a 12-minute warm up in the first quarter to get that kind of scoring accomplished.

Going back to last season, the Razorbacks are now 5-0 SU in their last 5 games at home. They’re also 8-0 SU in their past 8 games against the Warhawks, and that would seemingly make this an easy college football prediction to make. However, in their last meeting, Arkansas needed a desperate fourth quarter rally to win 28-27 against the upstart LA-Monroe Warhawks. Overall, the Razorback are just 4-3-1 ATS when playing LA-Monroe.
LA Monroe Warhawks vs. #14 Arkansas Razorbacks

NCAAF Betting Line: Arkansas -34 (59.5)
A lot of teams are making their case for a BCS berth, and Arkansas would love to be involved in the discussion but we all know the race is going to be tight this year. A team like Pittsburgh may eventually be able to excuse an early season loss to Utah, but there’s no way that the Razorbacks can give up a game to the LA-Monroe Warhawks.
LA-Monroe is just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games one the road in Arkansas which is a big reason why I would make anoint any of my football predictions against such a mammoth spread. The average point spread when these two meet has been -30.5 for Arkansas.
The ascension of Ryan Mallet to Heisman contender will coincide with Arkansas hopeful rise in to the top-10 amongst college teams. Throwing 301 yards and 3 touchdowns against a team like Tennessee Tech is one thing, but if Mallet can’t suffocate the LA-Monroe Warhawks with touchdowns, major passing yards and a solid win this weekend he’ll lose the spotlight that is shining over him, Arkansas and his Heisman dreams.
For now, the Razorbacks are a safe bet with Joe Adams serving as Mallet’s best weapon. Adams had 6 passes for 138 yards along with 2 touchdowns and has played the Warhawks already in his career.
The fact that Arkansas will handedly beat LA-Monroe isn’t the boldest football prediction I could make, but forthcoming matchups against #22 Georgia and #1 Alabama in the next two weeks will define the rest of their season.
