NCAA Betting – #3 Duke, #21 Illini, #24 St. Mary’s in Action on Thursday

Jan. 27th – NCAA BB Games

Boston College Eagles (14-6) at #3 Duke Blue Devils (18-1)

Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, NC

When: 8:00 pm EST

Basketball Odds: Boston College +16 ½

Analysis: The trends are actually all over the Eagles in this contest. BC is 5 and 1 versus the sports betting spread in their last 6 games against Duke. The Dookies are awesome; they’re without a doubt the class of the ACC this season, but the Blue Devils often times fail when it comes to the spread. Duke is 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games at home. Sure, Duke will win the game, but BC is getting 16 ½ points. I don’t see Duke spanking BC that badly on Thursday night.

#21 Illinois Illini (14-6) at Indiana Hoosiers (10-10)

Where: Assembly Hall, Bloomington, Indiana

When: 9:00 pm EST

Basketball Betting Odds: Illinois -4

Analysis: Illinois is only 1 and 3 straight up in their last 4 games. That makes them a bad NCAA moneyline odds wager in most matchups. I don’t believe their game versus Indiana on Thursday night qualifies as one of those matchups. The Hoosiers are flat out bad. They’ve gone 2 and 8 straight up in their last 10 games. Although they’ve gone 2 and 1 ATS in their last 2, they are only 3 and 6 against the spread in their last 9. Iowa, another bad team in the Big Ten, spanked the Hoosiers 91 to 77 in Indiana’s last. Illinois is the much better team and should play like it on Jan. 27th.

#24 St. Mary’s Gaels (17-3) at Gonzaga Bulldogs (13-7)

Where: McCarthey Athletic Center, Spokane, Washington

When: 11:00 pm EST

Basketball Odds: Gonzaga -3

Analysis: St. Mary’s is ranked but they won’t be after tonight when Gonzaga puts a beat down on them. The Gaels have won 9 out of their last 10 straight up, but the lone loss, to Vanderbilt in their last, exposed some flaws in St. Mary’s game. Vandy torched the Gaels from behind the arc. St. Mary’s allowed the Commodores to shoot 50% from 3-point land, 11 out of 22, and now they face a Gonzaga team that shoots 39.3% from behind the arc on average. The ‘Zags have lost two games in a row straight up but return home to McCarthey Athletic Center for this contest where they are 9 and 3 versus the spread in the sports book. I like Gonzaga.
