NCAA Basketball Betting Insider – Big 10 Power Poll

January 13, 2010

BetOnline Sportsbook takes a look at how each of the squads in the Big Ten have done for basketball betting fans against the college basketball lines…

1: Northwestern Wildcats (8-3 ATS, 12-3 SU) (LW: 1) What a huge victory for the Wildcats in Ann Arbor! Northwestern picked up a big time road win against the Wolverines, which will help ease the pain of losses to MSU and Illinois to kick off the conference slate. A win against one of this week’s foes would look even sweeter.

On Deck: Home vs. Wisconsin, Home vs. Purdue

2: Wisconsin Badgers (9-5 ATS, 13-3 SU) (LW: 2) Once again, home court advantage is proving to be huge in the basketball betting proceedings in the Big Ten. After getting crushed at Michigan State, the Badgers came home and handed Purdue its first loss of the season. Unfortunately for HC Bo Ryan and his kids, big time contributor F Jon Leuer broke his wrist in the victory.

On Deck: Away @ Northwestern, Away @ Ohio State

3: Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-6 ATS, 12-4 SU) (LW: 3) Ditto for Minnesota. The Gophers were crushed at Purdue, but had no problem putting the Buckeyes away when they returned home to face Ohio State. Also like its rivals, Minnesota has to hit the road twice this week.

On Deck: Away @ Michigan State, Away @ Indiana

4: Purdue Boilermakers (7-7-1 ATS, 14-1 SU) (LW: 4) Purdue’s perfect season has come to a close after losing at the Kohl Center on Saturday. Look for the Boilers to bounce back quickly against a struggling bunch of Buckeyes.

On Deck: Home vs. Ohio State, Away @ Northwestern

5: Penn State Nittany Lions (5-7-1 ATS, 8-7 SU) (LW: 5) Penn State hasn’t had a great time trying to beat the college basketball betting lines over the last month or so. The Nittany Lions lost 64-55 at home to Michigan on Friday, and now they’ve got to hit the road for three of the next four.

On Deck: Away @ Illinois, Away @ Iowa

6: Indiana Hoosiers (6-8-1 ATS, 7-8 SU) (LW: 6) Travelling to Ohio State was an impossible task for the Hoosiers, but a 66-60 home loss to Illinois was enough to cover the college basketball line on the game. These next four are all very winnable games for HC Tom Crean’s club.

On Deck: Away @ Michigan, Home vs. Minnesota

7: Ohio State Buckeyes (7-9 ATS, 11-5 SU) (LW: 7) F Evan Turner may be back in the lineup, but that’s apparently not helping OSU much. The superstar who has missed the past several weeks due to injury nearly logged a triple-double against Minnesota, but it made no difference in the lopsided defeat.

On Deck: Away @ Purdue, Home vs. Wisconsin

8: Michigan Wolverines (4-7 ATS, 8-7 SU) (LW: 8) Unlike seemingly everyone else in the Big Ten this week, Michigan found a way to win on the road. However, it also found a way to lose at home. This game against Indiana had better be a ‘W’ for Big Blue. After that? Connecticut, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State. Ouch.

On Deck: Home vs. Indiana, Home vs. Connecticut

And the rest…

9: Michigan State Spartans (6-9 ATS, 13-3 SU) (LW: 10)
10: Illinois Fighting Illini (5-10 ATS, 11-5 SU) (LW: 9)
11: Iowa Hawkeyes (3-12 ATS, 5-11 SU) (LW: 11)
