NC State vs Clemson – Football Betting Advice

November 6, 2010

The North Carolina Wolfpack hasn’t beaten the Clemson Tigers in their last six tries, but despite the history, the Wolfpack have a very good chance to end the streak this weekend.

The Clemson Tigers already have three losses in ACC play but are still favorites for Saturday’s matchup. Let’s look at the teams, the lines and some football betting advice before we make a prediction on NC State ending the streak.

Clemson Tigers -3½ -110
Game Total 50½

The NC State losing streak to Clemson goes back to 2003 and it’s their longest losing streak to any ACC opponent. They are 6-2 on the season and are 3-1 in the ACC. Against the NCAAF spread the Wolfpack is 6-2 covering every game they’ve won and failing to cover in their losses.

Football Betting Advice – The Wolfpack are 4-1 ATS in their past five ACC games.

The Wolfpack ranks 21st in the Nation in points scored, averaging 35 a game. They are a pass first offense and with quarterback Russell Wilson leading the way, they rank 15th in passing yards with 295.8 a game.

Wilson is completing 58.4% of his passes for 2302 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the season. Wilson spreads the ball around with 10 different players catching a TD pass this season. His top two targets, Owen Spencer and Jarvis Williams have combined for 974 yards in eight games this season.

Football Betting Advice – The Wolfpack are 8-2-1 ATS in their past 11 games as underdogs of 3½-10 points.

The Wolfpack defense could have trouble scoring on the Clemson Tigers this Saturday. The Tigers are giving up just 18.1 points a game, which is 18th in the nation.

The strength of the Tigers defense is their ability to shut down opposing quarterbacks. Clemson ranks 24th against the pass and gives up only 188.1 yards a game through the air.

Football Betting Advice – Clemson is 5-0 ATS in their past five games as favorites of 3½-10 points.

On the other side of the ball, the Tigers offense ranks 58th in the nation, scoring 27.8 points per game. They are a little better on the ground ranking 45th and average 164.2 per game.

The Wolfpack defense allows 23.8 points per game for a 58th ranking. Against the run, they are allowing 152 yards per game.

Football Betting Advice – The Wolfpack are 5-1 ATS in their past six games against Clemson.

These teams match-up well; the Wolfpack’s offensive strengths are the Tigers defenses strength. The Tigers weak offense matches up well against the Wolfpack’s weaker defense.

I like the Wolfpack passing to overcome the Tigers defense and end their losing streak to Clemson at six games.
