NBA Western Conference Showdown – Suns at Warriors

February 4, 2009

The Phoenix Suns (26-20 SU, 16-28-1 ATS, 25-20 O/U) snapped their two-game losing streak the last time they took the floor.

The Golden State Warriors (15-34 SU, 21-26-2 ATS, 27-22 O/U) have lost two straight and three of four overall.

Tonight, both teams will be looking to record an SU and ATS win in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they meet at Oracle Arena.

The Suns held the Sacramento Kings to just 26 second half points in their 129-81 win on Monday to easily cover the spread as 15.5-point home favorites in the BetOnline Sportsbook while the combined score fell UNDER the posted total of 223.

Veteran shooting guard Jason Richardson shot 10-for-12 from the field for a team-high 24 points, adding five rebounds and six assists for good measure while all-star forward Amare Stoudemire added 25 points and eight rebounds.

"We set the tone early and we were able to sustain it," said first-year Suns head coach Terry Porter. "At the meetings, we were trying to get better and solve problems. We refocused on what we wanted to accomplish."

The Warriors fell to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, losing 115-105 in overtime but turning their ATS outcome into a push as 5-point home underdogs.

Veteran swingman Stephen Jackson led the way with a game-high 33 points while dishing out 11 assists and grabbing five rebounds.

The Warriors led by 12 early in the third quarter before giving up 12 straight points and eventually falling in the extra period.

"I don’t know that we could have played much better than we played," Warriors coach Don Nelson said. "We were competitive and competed and did about everything we could do. … But when you have a team like that on the ropes you have to finish them off."

NBA Odds

Phoenix Suns -2½ -110

Golden State Warriors +2½ -110

Over 228 -110

Under 228 -110

Analysis: While I really don’t think the Suns will contend for much in the strong Western Conference this season as they have some serious chemistry problems, I do like them to handle the defenseless Golden State Warriors in this matchup.

I say the Suns go to the low post early and often while winning going away.
