NBA Wednesday Parlay – Easy Money Picks

January 21, 2009

The disappointing Toronto Raptors make their way to The Palace to face the struggling Detroit Pistons. Detroit has lost 5 of its last 6 games, including dropping points to weaker opponents throughout the streak. They managed to end a 5 game losing slide by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 87-79 on Monday. Detroit is having issues deciding the starters in the backcourt. Guards Allen Iverson, Richard Hamilton, and Rodney Stuckey are vying for the 2 starting jobs, and 2nd year player Stuckey has earned one of them. That leaves perennial all-stars Iverson and Hamilton a spot reserved on the bench for one of them.

Toronto has lost 6 in a row and is playing without their point guard Jose Calderon, and hasn’t won in Detroit in almost 6 years, a streak of 10 games. Toronto is playing under expectations this season, and the trade acquiring Jermaine O’Neal is looking more and more like a bust. There are trade rumours circling the Raptors’ locker room so the last thing they need right now is a trip to The Palace.

NBA free pick: BetOnline Detroit (-5.5)

The red hot Boston Celtics are in the sunshine state to face the Miami Heat tonight. The Celtics look like themselves again having won 5 in a row, but mostly against lesser opponents. Miami is coming on strong as of late, and is coming off a long road trip where they went 4-3, losing close games to the Lakers, Rockets, and Nuggets. Dwayne Wade is leading the NBA in scoring with 28.9 points per game. The Heat are 12-6 at home, but Boston is 12-7 on the road. Both teams have the hot-hand right now, scoring in bunches and moving up and down the floor with pace. The BetOnline over/under of 187 points is well below the points the Celtics and Heat have been scoring of late. In the 2 teams combined last 5 games each, 8 of the 10 games have gone over this mark.

NBA free pick: BetOnline over 187 points

-For bigger money, I like Miami to keep it close, Parlay Miami to cover BetOnline (+5.5)

In the battle of Los Angeles, the Lakers and the Clippers play tonight at the Staples Center with the Clippers having the honor of being the home team. Both teams are heading in opposite directions, the Lakers are tops in the conference and well on their way to another long playoff run. The Clippers had high hopes heading into the season, but are playing like the Clippers of old, heading into tonight’s match up with a 9-31 overall record. However, the BetOnline line has the Lakers a 16 point favorite tonight, despite league MVP and Lakers leader Kobe Bryant injuring his finger in the last game. Although he is not expected to miss tonight’s game, he may see limited minutes and will definitely be slowed by the injury. A 16 point favorite to a road team with their star player hurt is a BetOnline line you must take advantage of.

NBA free pick: Los Angeles Clippers (+16)
