NBA Saturday Playoff Parlay – Suns and Thunder Look Like Solid Wagers Again

April 23, 2010

The Phoenix Suns and Oklahoma City Thunder both look like solid bets again this Saturday.

The Suns might be without Amare Stoudemire but I doubt that will be the case.  Even if they are, the Trailblazers are so hopelessly outclassed in this series because of the injuries that they have suffered that I still believe a bet on the Suns to cover the spread without Amare is a good one.

I also believe that the Thunder grew up in Game 3 and will come out on fire in Game 4.

Phoenix vs. Portland and L.A. vs. Oklahoma City make up the two games in my two team parlay for Saturday.

NBA Saturday Playoff Parlay

Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trailblazers

Tip-off:  4:30 pm EST

Basketball Odds:  Phoenix Suns -1

Analysis:  The Suns are just better than Portland right now.  Because of Portland’s injuries, they cannot make defensive adjustments while the Suns can.  I’m not too worried about what Stu Jackson is going to do to Amare Stoudemire.  If he suspends Amare, then he’ll have to suspend LeMarcus Aldridge as well since Aldridge went after Amare after Stoudemire threw the elbow.  Even if he just suspends Amare, will it matter?  The Suns have plenty on the bench to take out the Blazers at such a short betting line.  Phoenix has beaten Portland 119 to 90 and 108 to 89 in the last 2 games.  I’m going with Phoenix.

If Amare plays, then the line most likely will go up to around Suns -6 ½.  I still like the Suns in this parlay.

Pick:  Phoenix Suns -1

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Tip-off:  9:30 pm EST

Basketball Odds:  Oklahoma City Thunder -1 ½

Analysis:  The Thunder played like crap for a half and a quarter in their Game 3 victory over the L.A. Lakers, but then they turned it on in the 4th quarter to record a 101 to 96 victory.

The problem that L.A. is having in this series is the fact that the Thunder has the ability to wear them down in the 4th quarter.  Oklahoma City can afford to give up a lead early on in the game because eventually they know that their young legs will get to the Lakers in the 4th quarter.  It’s happened in all three games, actually, with the Lakers building a first quarter lead only to see it evaporate as the games as gone on.

I don’t believe the Lakers get that nice cushion after the 1st quarter in Game 4.  The Thunder got the nervousness of playing in their first ever-home playoff game out of their system with the Game 3 victory.  They match-up extremely well with the Lakers.  So well, in fact, that they could push this series to a Game 7 and possibly upset L.A. in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Kevin Durant was cold in the 1st half of Game 3.  He won’t be cold in the 1st half of Game 4 and whether Lakers fans want to believe it or not, Kobe either doesn’t have his legs where they need to be or that index finger is bother him.  The Kobester was 10 for 29 for 34% from the field against the Thunder in Game 3.

Pick:  Oklahoma City Thunder -1 ½ –  JOIN HERE!
