NBA Saturday – Knicks, Hawks, San Antonio Likely Online Sports Betting Faves

February 13, 2011

The New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs are likely basketball betting favorites on Saturday, Feb. 11th.

The Knicks battle the New Jersey Nets on the road a night after tackling Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers at home.  Atlanta hosts “tough out” Charlotte while the San Antonio Spurs get to put a beat down on lowly Washington.  Check out a preview of each of the games below.

Feb. 12th– NBA Games

** Records and stats not counting Thursday and Friday night games.

New York Knicks (26-25) vs. New Jersey Nets (16-37)

Where:  Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey

When:  7:00 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds:  New York -5 ½

Analysis:  New York beat New Jersey 111 to 100, easily covering the NBA odds in the sportsbook as -4 ½ point home faves, the last time these two teams met.  New Jersey has gone back to their non-covering ways after a string where they appeared to be competitive.  The Nets have gone 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 games.  New York isn’t a great defensive team but they should have no problem handling the Nets who shoot only 44.2% from the field per game on average and score a measly 92.7 points per contest.  New York does face Kobe and the Lake Show on Friday night, but they should still have enough in the tank to cover a spread versus the Nets on Saturday.

Charlotte Bobcats (22-30) at Atlanta Hawks (33-19)

Where:  Phillips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia

When:  7:00 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds:  Atlanta -7 ½

Analysis:  Charlotte is usually a nice team to back against the spread when they’re getting points. After all, as 4 ½ point dogs in the NBA online spread betting book, the Bobcats did upset Boston on Feb. 7th straight up, 94 to 89.  But I don’t believe that the Bobcats matchup well at all with the Atlanta Hawks.  The Hawks blitzed Charlotte 103 to 87 the last time the two teams faced each other on Jan. 22nd.  Charlotte hasn’t gotten better and Atlanta may have since they’re 3 and 1 straight up in their last 4 games.  I see Atlanta taking down Charlotte again on Saturday night.

San Antonio Spurs (44-8) at Washington Wizards (14-37)

Where:  Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia

When:  8:00 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds:  San Antonio -8 ½

Analysis:  The Wizards are freakin’ 2 and 8 on the bet on NBA moneyline odds in their last 10 games.  They’re 2 and 4 ATS in their last 6 games.  San Antonio plays the Philadelphai 76’ers on Friday night.  That should be the Spurs “tough” game.  On Saturday, they should simply outwork the Washington Wizards to win a game reminiscent of their 94 to 80 victory over the Double-W Flubber Blubbers (like that nickname?) the last time they faced them.  Harry Potter’s favorite team figures to get their asses handed to them Voldermort-like on Feb. 12th.
