WILL LEBRON JAMES SCORE HIS 1ST FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT?

Yes     -125

No        -105

Yeah, they’re going to be trying to throw a scare into this guy if they possibly can. Hey, it’s just business, right? Can LeBron be psyched out by this crowd? Well, we know that when something gets into his head, it can affect him greatly. Do you remember what happened in the Eastern Conference semi-finals last year, when, reportedly, LeBron found out that Delonte West was sleeping with his mother? His MOTHER?

That came to his attention before Game 4 of that series, and supposedly he was one of the last to know. The word is that there were people in the Cavs’ front office who knew, and never told him, and that is part of what caused the irrevocable break between superstar and organization. He got so screwed up over that piece of news (and I can’t say that I blamed him)  that everything just collapsed. NBA props bettors know that LeBron had shot 57.5% from the field previously throughout the playoffs (which included a five-game series against the Bulls as well as the first three games against Boston), but from that point forward he made just 18 of his 53 shots (34%) and pulled the act of "quitting" that Cavs’ owner Dan Gilbert referred to in his "open letter" to Cleveland fans that was released the day after LeBron’s "Decision."

What was maybe even more interesting is what happened to West after that. Perhaps the Cavs were trying to appease LeBron James even then. Did they get caught with their pants down (if you would please pardon the pun)? That could be, because Delonte West, who had logged a little more than 88 minutes in the first three games (about 29 and change per game) played a total of 43 minutes in the next three games. He also made just one of his twelve field goal attempts in those three games. I wonder if LeBron ever even threw a pass to him (in a delicious bit of irony, West is now with Boston and may wind up meeting LeBron and Miami in the playoffs).

It was no coincidence that after having a 2-1 lead in the series, Cleveland was outscored by an average of 104-87 the rest of the way. So when you ask the question as to whether LeBron can be psyched out and whether that could affect him in one of these NBA props, the answer is a quite certain "yes." And that is aside from the fact that LeBron James is just a 45% shooter from the field as it is. You definitely don’t want to lay a price like -125 that he is going to make his first shot.
