NBA Power Rankings – The King’s Cavs are Tops Again

February 23, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back from a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers before the break and have dominated everyone since the All-Star game.

They are tops again in the BetOnline online sportsbook NBA Power Rankings.

Let’s take a look at the Power Rankings.

NBA Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Cavaliers 36-18 ATS – - The Cavs have won four straight games and have covered in those four straight games. They are easily the top team in the power rankings and because they didn’t screw up their nucleus by trading for Shaq, they should remain tops for a long time.

2. Boston Celtics 32-25 ATS – - Boston is starting to really solidify themselves as a top team to bet on in the NBA. They absolutely dominated the Suns by running with them on Sunday night. The Celtics put up 128 points. That’s a lot for what many consider a defensive team.

3. Orlando Magic 35-19-1 ATS – - Orlando is just fantastic against the spread. By making the trade for Rafer Alston, they should continue to be fantastic from now until the playoffs. This team is a very good team and could challenge the Cavs and Celtics with a guy like Alston running the show.

4. Utah Jazz 30-26 ATS – - Their overall against the spread record isn’t all that great but they’ve suddenly become one of the top teams in the NBA against the spread right now after winning four in a row and going 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 games. They get Carlos Boozer back soon which will make them even better.

5. Los Angeles Lakers 29-27 ATS – - The Lakers aren’t dominating against the spread but they’ve won four games straight-up including a victory in overtime against the New Orleans Hornets. If the Lakers can continue this, they should start covering more spreads.

6. San Antonio Spurs 27-25-2 ATS – - Okay, that’s not a great against the spread record, but they have covered in their last two games, both on the road, and bettors can’t forget that terrific victory against the Celtics a couple of weeks ago.

7. Oklahoma City Thunder 34-27 ATS – - The Thunder keep covering spreads. It’s pretty amazing considered that BetOnline NBA odds makers have started to lower the NBA betting line on the Thunder. They just keep covering. Last week they pushed against Golden State and covered against New Orleans.

8. Charlotte Bobcats 32-24 ATS – - The Bobcats haven’t covered against the spread in their last two games but before those two they had covered in five straight games. It might be a good idea to jump onto their bandwagon again.

9. New York Knicks 32-23 ATS – - The Knicks are a terrible straight-up team but like the Bobcats and the Thunder they keep covering against the spread. They covered three games in a row before their non-cover against Toronto on Sunday.

10. Denver Nuggets 31-24-1 ATS – - The Nuggets haven’t covered against the spread in their last two games, but those two games were the 7th and 8th straight games on their road trip. Denver returns home and should start to cover spreads again.
