NBA Playoffs Props – Part III – Hawks vs Magic Game 2
May 6, 2010
As we get ready for the pivotal Game 2 in the Magic-Hawks series on Thursday night, make some quick cash with a few NBA Playoffs Prop Bets.
Here are some of the best one’s on the board:
Joe Johnson- Over 20 ½ Points (+110) or Under 20 ½ Points (-140): Making prop bets is all about finding value, and this might be a perfect example of that. Getting the odds that you will, on Joe Johnson going over 21 points, this seems like a logical play.
Johnson averaged 21.3 this season, and hasn’t averaged less than 21 in each of the last four regular seasons. And while he struggled in Game 1 (Just 10 points), expect a much better performance in Game 2. Remember, it was early on these playoffs that he scored 22 or more in five of six games.
Someone from Atlanta needs to step up and make outside shots, and the smart money is on Johnson. Take him going OVER 20 ½ points in this NBA Playoffs Prop Bet.
Rashard Lewis- Over 14 ½ Points (-120) or Under 14 ½ Points (-110): During Orlando’s run to the NBA Finals last year, few players were more instrumental in their success than Lewis. In these playoffs however, the 11th year veteran has been good, but hardly great.
The truth is, that the Magic are so deep and talented, Lewis isn’t needed to be the big-time scorer he once was. Instead, he’s turned into a complimentary part, but a good one, averaging 14.4 points per game in just 36 minutes of play.
And that last stat on his minutes played may be the difference, as Lewis just doesn’t play all that much. In Game 1, he played just 29 minutes, and scored nine points, as most of Orlando’s starters rested in the fourth quarter of a blow out.
If this game gets out hand, will the same thing happen?
In this prop bet, play it safe and take the UNDER. Lewis is certainly capable of scoring more than 14 ½ points. It just remains to be seen if he’ll even be given the opportunity.
Marvin Williams- Over 15 ½ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110) or Under 15 ½ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120): Remember when Williams was the second overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft ahead of Chris Paul and Deron Williams? Is it too early to call him one of the biggest busts in Draft history?
Regardless, the fourth year player really doesn’t do all that much in Atlanta, as during the regular season, he averaged just 10 points and five rebounds a game, and hasn’t displayed any toughness or physicality down low. He had just eight points, four rebounds and an assists in Game 1 of this series.
Although he’s averaging nine points and six rebounds in this series, the wager on this NBA Playoffs Prop Bet is still the UNDER.
Williams got a lot of those points and rebounds against the thin Milwaukee front line, and will have no such luxury against Milwaukee.
Take Marvin Williams UNDER 15 ½ Points, Rebounds and Assists in this one.
