NBA Playoffs Prop Bets – Jazz vs Lakers Part I
May 5, 2010
Not comfortable making a big basketball bet on Tuesday night’s Jazz-Lakers Game 2? How about an exciting prop bet? There’s plenty that could suit your bankroll just right.
Let’s look at a few of them, as we get ready for Game 2.
Deron Williams Total Points: Over 23 ½ (-105) or Under 23 ½ (-125)- Williams has been the star of stars early on these playoffs, as it seemed like at times he single handedly carried the Jazz past the Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs betting.
Through six games against Denver and the first game against the Lakers, Williams has averaged 25.6 points per game, meaning that looking quickly at this prop bet, the OVER would be the logical play.
Don’t be so sure though. The truth is that the Lakers will do whatever it takes to make someone outside of Williams beat them. Expect Los Angeles to rotate Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest and Derek Fisher onto the Utah Jazz point guard and make him get rid of the ball at the point of attack.
We’re not saying that Utah doesn’t have other players that can score, or that they can’t win this game straight up. Just that if they do it, they’ll need a big game offensively from someone besides Williams. Take the UNDER in this prop bet.
Pau Gasol Total Points: Over 20 ½ (-125) or Under 20 ½ (-105)- For the Lakers to win this series, someone besides Kobe Bryant to step up. That’s no secret. So who’s most likely to do so? Gasol seems like the safe bet.
While Utah will try to rotate several different players onto him, none have the combination of size and athleticism to deal with the 7’0 250 lb. Gasol. He’s averaged 19 points in this playoffs, but went off for a cool 25 on 9 of 15 shooting in Game 1. And with his front court mate Andrew Bynum limited down low, Gasol should shine even more.
Take Pau Gasol OVER 20 ½ points.
Andrew Bynum Total Points + Rebounds: Over 20 ½ (-110) or Under 20 ½ (-120)-
After partially tearing the meniscus in his right knee, not many were sure what to expect from Lakers center Andrew Bynum in Game 1 of this series. Well he responded with a solid, but not spectacular eight points and 10 rebounds.
So what should we expect for Game 2? Expect Bynum to have another good game, but the truth is, it seems a bit unrealistic for him to go over the 20 combined points and rebounds threshold.
Coach Phil Jackson knows this series could very well go seven games, so don’t expect him to risk his big man early in this series, but instead to limit his minutes, as he did in Game 1, when Bynum played just 25.
With limited time on the court, this seems like one of the safest bets on board. Take Andrew Bynum UNDER 20 ½ points and rebounds in this NBA Playoffs prop bet!
Good luck!
