NBA Playoff Parlay – Chicago vs. Boston & Philadelphia vs. Orlando

April 28, 2009

After last night’s action that saw the Denver Nuggets blow out the New Orleans Hornets by 58 points and the Los Angeles Lakers shut down the Utah Jazz by 11 to win their first round series, BetOnline online sportsbook fans are wondering how to match that level of excitement on Tuesday night.

By wagering on a two team parlay, of course!

Let’s take a look at the two best wagering propositions to put into our parlay.

Parlay #1: Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics

Spread: Bulls +7 ½

BetOnline Total: 199

Analysis: The Bulls beat the Celtics in double overtime in the last game 121 to 118. It was the third game out of four where the number of points went over the BetOnline Total. The only time the game didn’t go over the total was in game three which was the first game in Chicago. The two teams are back in Boston for this game, but the end result should be the same. Not necessarily in terms of whom wins, but definitely in terms of the total, right? Actually, no. Rajon Rondo for the Celtics is slightly hurt and Ben Gordon for the Bulls might not even suit up for this game. With both important scorers hobbling, I expect the Celtics to go back to their strong defense in order to win this. I see this game going under.

Pick: Under the BetOnline Total of 199 points.

Parlay #2: Philadelphia 76’ers vs. Orlando Magic

Spread: 76’ers +8 ½

BetOnline Total: 188

Analysis: In four games in this series, the Philadelphia 76’ers have gone 2 and 2 straight-up and 4 and 0 against the spread. What that tells me is that the pivotal game five in the series, which is tonight in Orlando, should be just as tough as the other four. Orlando just doesn’t match up as well versus Philadelphia as they do against some of the other teams in this league and they haven’t begun to play the type of playoff basketball needed to win the Eastern Conference. I see this being a very difficult game for Orlando. The 8 ½ points are just too much to give up. Philly should make it 5 and 0 against the spread tonight.

Pick: Philadelphia 76’ers at +8 ½
