April 24, 2009

Spurs To Cover Spread Against Mavericks With Defense Tonight – San Antonio at Dallas

The San Antonio Spurs (55-29 SU, 41-41-2 ATS, 41-41-2 O/U) and Dallas Mavericks (51-33 SU, 41-43 ATS, 40-44 O/U) will both be looking to take the series lead in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they square off at American Airlines Center tonight at 8:30 PM ET in the third game of their first-round playoff series.

The Spurs evened the series at one game apiece as all-star point guard Tony Parker went off for a game-high 38 points, adding 8 assists as the Spurs spanked the Mavericks 105-84 to easily cash in for BetOnline NBA sports betting backers as 5.5-point home favorites while the final score pushed the 189-point total.

Tim Duncan added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs while sixth-man Jason Terry scored a team-high 16 points for Dallas.

Here is a look at tonight’s key NBA betting trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

NBA Odds

San Antonio Spurs +5 -110

Dallas Mavericks -5 -110

Over 190 -110

Under 190 -110

Analysis: After two surprising routs in this series in the opening two games, I say it’s about time for these two ballclubs to play to a frantic finish. While I like the Dallas Mavericks to handle their business by winning at home tonight, something tells me that the veteran-laden Spurs are not going to roll over very easily like they did in their surprising Game 1 home loss.

While the Spurs have struggled on occasion to score points, I say they hang in this contest to the very end with an excellent shot at stealing the outright road win.

Take the Spurs, who are 3-2 ATS in their last five games against the Mavs, to cover the spread while the final score plays Over the set O/U total for the fourth consecutive contest between these division rivals.
