NBA Playoff Betting: Can Magic Avoid 0-3 Hole in Boston?
May 23, 2010
Going into tonight’s game in Boston, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy reassured some NBA betting fans when he said that his team would not be lacking in the motivation and fight departments tonight.
But he failed to reassure NBA betting fans that the talent gap between the two teams had closed enough that Orlando would be able to pull out the win.
Orlando was the sports betting favorite going in but now the tables have turned and the Magic are on their last breath according to some.
Sports betting fans have seen Boston’s dominance in Orlando and now Boston has become the favorite. They look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead tonight at home.
Orlando Magic (8-2 playoff record) at Boston Celtics (10-3)

NBA playoff betting line: Celtics favored at -3
Magic fans can take solace in their team’s 4-0 road record in the playoffs so far, that much is certain. However, that record is a bit deceiving to betting fans because Orlando has played weak teams in Atlanta and the Charlotte Bobcats in the first two rounds, two teams that have mediocre home court advantages and don’t have the same level of talent as Boston or Cleveland, who Boston beat in the second round.
While Dwight Howard had 30 points in the last game, Rajon Rondo tore the Magic apart and that isn’t likely to change with smallish Jameer Nelson on defense.
The Magic are going to be hard-pressed to defend Boston’s multiple offensive weapons the rest of the season and things are only going to get worse as the series shifts to Boston where the Celtics are more comofortable.
Orlando’s best chance to win some games in this series now boils down to them shooting threes, as Howard is not the kind of guy who consistently scores in bunches like he did in game two.
That is not a good trend for NBA and sports betting fans to rely on and that’s why it’s not a good idea to bet on Orlando.
Sports betting fans should climb aboard the Boston bandwagon while there’s still room because the Celtics look title-bound yet again.
NBA betting pick: Boston Celtics (-3).
