NBA Playoff Betting – The Hottest and Coldest ATS Teams Left in the Postseason

May 10, 2010

The NBA playoffs are rolling right along and this look at the hottest – and coldest ATS teams remaining in the postseason – will show avid pro basketball gamblers just which teams are covering the NBA Betting Odds at a high rate heading into tonight’s action and likely to cover the spread over the course of the remainder of their respective series’ and put more money than ever in backers’ pockets.

With two expected thrillers getting underway in a mere matter of hours tonight, let me get started.

Phoenix (8-2 ATS, 5-0 ATS L5)
The Suns have gone a nearly perfect 8-2 ATS in 10 playoff games, including a bankroll-boosting 6-0 ATS over their last six games. I’m not joking NBA betting fans when I say that it suddenly looks like the Suns are going to have a more than legitimate chance of stopping Kobe Bryant and the Lakers en route to a third

Orlando (6-1 ATS, 5-0 ATS L5)
The Magic have won 13 consecutive games dating back to the regular season, including seven straight playoff games while recording an unblemished 6-0 ATS mark in their L6 games. Maybe it’s me, but I’m thinking the winner of the Cavaliers-Celtics matchup is going to be in serious trouble in the Eastern Conference semis.
Straight conference crown.

Lakers (5-4 ATS, 4-1 ATS L5)
Not only are the Lakers laying the smackdown on their Western Conference competition, but they’ve also heated up in a big way when it comes to covering the NBA betting line. Kobe Bryant and company have gone a bankroll-boosting 4-1 ATS over their L5 games, while pounding Utah into a 3-0 deficit in their conference semifinal series.

Boston (6-3 ATS, 3-2 ATS L5)
The Celtics have gone a respectable 3-2 ATS in L5 games while alternating ATS wins and losses over each of their last six games overall. The C’s are 2-2 ATS in their second round semifinal matchup against Cleveland heading into Game 5.

Utah (5-4 ATS, 1-4 ATS L5)
The Jazz looked like lions in going 4-2 SU and ATS in dispatching Denver in the first round of the playoffs, but now look like lambs in going a bankroll-draining 1-4 ATS over their L5 games and 0-3 ATS in their three second round games against L.A. I know this isn’t a ‘special news bulletin’ or anything but, the party’s almost over for Jerry Sloan and the Utah Jazz – once again.

Cleveland (4-5 ATS, 2-3 ATS L5)
The Cavs haven’t looked very good in their second round series against Boston (unless you’re counting Game 3) and their ATS success has been underwhelming to say the least. Cleveland has gone a disappointing 4-5 ATS in nine playoff games, but just 2-3 ATS over their L5 while … get this, alternating ATS wins and losses over their last seven games.

(Atlanta 4-6 ATS, 2-3 ATS L5)
The Hawks have gone 2-3 ATS over their L5 games but have been absolutely laughable in losing – and failing to cover the NBA betting odds – in three straight games against the Orlando Magic. Like the Jazz, it won’t be long before the Hawks are also on the golf course.
