NBA Odds Spurs @ Magic
December 18, 2008
The San Antonio Spurs (15-9 SU, 12-11 ATS, 9-14 O/U) had their six-game winning streak snapped in the BetOnline Sportsbook on Wednesday.
The Orlando Magic (19-6 SU, 15-9-1 ATS, 11-14 O/U) have won two straight games and have covered the spread for BetOnline NBA sports betting backers in a whopping five straight games.
Tonight, BetOnline NBA sports betting enthusiasts along with the fans at Amway Arena will be treated to a thrilling matchup between the Spurs and Magic.
San Antonio is coming off a 90-83 loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday, getting a team-high 20 points from point guard Tony Parker and 17 points from Manu Ginobili. The Spurs made just four of their final 21 shots and finished the game shooting a dismal 38.8 percent from the field.
"New Orleans did a great job down the stretch," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "They had mental and physical toughness. … They just outplayed us in the last four minutes. They made a couple of shots, we didn’t, and that was the game."
The Magic have won two straight and six of seven overall, beating Golden State 109-98 on Monday to cover the spread in the BetOnline Sportsbook as a 3.5-point road favorite.
Orlando has won each of their past two games without all-star center Dwight Howard who is expected back from a knee injury tonight.
"These are definitely two statement games, big games for us," said forward Rashard Lewis, who is averaging 23.3 points in his last four contests. "This will let us know if we are an elite team."
Off to its best start since the 1994-95 team, the Magic got a career-high 32 points from point guard Jameer Nelson on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. Howard’s backup, center Marcin Gortat, had career highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
"I have to feel good about what they’ve done so far, no question," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "The cautionary thing is that in this league, things change overnight. What you’ve done in the first 25 games doesn’t mean anything in the 26th game, or 27th game. You just have to be ready."

Analysis: I know the Magic are playing excellent basketball at the moment and have Dwight Howard back tonight on their home floor, but I like the San Antonio Spurs to not only cover the spread in this matchup, but win outright in doing so, particularly after Wednesday night’s narrow loss to New Orleans.
