NBA Odds Golden State @ Atlanta
December 19, 2008
The Golden State Warriors (7-19 SU, 10-16 ATS, 16-10 O/U) have lost four consecutive games in the BetOnline Sportsbook, failing to cover the spread for NBA sports betting backers each time.
The Atlanta Hawks (15-10 SU, 14-11 ATS, 9-14-2 O/U) are coming off a heart-breaking 88-85 home loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday but covered the spread as 4-point hoe underdogs.
Tonight, both teams will look to get back in the win column when they meet at Phillips Arena.
The Warriors are coming off a 127-120 loss to the Indiana Pacers, failing to cover the spread as a 6-point road underdog.
Shooting guard Jamal Crawford scored a team-high 29 points while Marco Belinelli added 21 and Stephen Jackson, 20. The Warriors are ranked 25th overall in field goal defense, (46.8 percent) and are allowing a league-high 112.1 points per game. The Warriors have given up at least 120 points in six of their last 10 games.
"I wouldn’t say we let it get away," said head coach Don Nelson. "I would say they seized the opportunity at the moment. We were competing. We missed a couple shots, they made a couple, that was the ballgame."
The Hawks fell to the Boston Celtics 80-85 in their highly-anticipated matchup Wednesday.
Shooting guard Joe Johnson scored a game-high 20 points but missed a crucial free throw with just 2.7 seconds remaining that would have tied the score.
"I had a chance to get us into overtime and missed the second free throw," said Johnson. "I made the first one and some of the pressure was off."
Blossoming small forward Marvin Williams added 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting versus the Celtics and was the only Atlanta starter that made 50 percent of his respective shots.
