NBA Odds: San Antonio -6, New York +6, Total 209

Here are some of the betting trends that involve NBA odds on this matchup:

  • San Antonio has won 14 of its last 15 games SU
  • San Antonio has played four of its last six games UNDER the total
  • San Antonio has won ten of its last 12 road games SU
  • San Antonio has played six of its last seven road games OVER the total
  • New York has won 16 of its last 22 games SU
  • New York has played four of its last five home games UNDER the total
  • New York has won seven of its last nine home games SU

San Antonio’s only loss in the last 15 games came two days before Christmas at Orlando, and though that was a part of a four-game skid against the NBA odds, the Spurs have nonetheless covered nine of their last 14. Since the Knicks won 13 of 14 games themselves, they have cooled down, going 3-5 over their last eight games. These teams have not met since March 10, when the Spurs won a 97-87 decision at the AT&T Center, covering a 9.5-point spread in the NBA odds.

In a bit of gossip that the New York papers were able to report on Tuesday, San Antonio point guard Tony Parker revealed that if he hadn’t signed against with the Spurs, he may have done so with the Knicks. D’Antoni certainly coveted him as an ideal point guard for his offense.

Here are some of the head-to-head trends that concern NBA odds on this game:

  • San Antonio has won nine of the last ten meetings SU
  • Four of the last five meetings in New York have gone OVER the total
  • San Antonio has won four of the last five meetings SU as the road team

The Knicks got some bad news when they found out that Danilo Gallinari would be out for about two or three weeks with a knee injury. Gallinari has been averaging 15 points a game and he is turning out to be the matchup problem for other teams that Mike D’Antoni hoped he’d be when he drafted him in the first round. In his absence D’Antoni is going to do a little lineup shuffling that might affect the way we size up the NBA odds on this game. Ronny Turiaf will come in to play center, with Amare Stoudamire moving to power forward.

The Knicks have done a great job of inserting the component parts for the game they’ve wanted to play. But what have they done lately? Raymond Felton has been a revelation at the point, but he’s had 13 assists and 11 turnovers in the last three games.  Landry Fields, who’s been one of the better rookies in the league this year, has just 13 points in his last three games. San Antonio has turned up the volume on offense in a way that is not dissimilar to the Knicks. New York is first in the league at 107.2 ppg, and the Spurs are not far behind at 105.6 ppg. D’Antoni’s style won’t be hard for them to handle. They spread it around pretty good, so Tim Duncan can concentrate on defending Stoudamire. San Antonio is a robust 10-2 SU on the road. We’re laying the points with the Spurs in the NBA odds for Tuesday.
