Despite injuries the Portland Trail Blazers will remain competitive in the West and now look to build some momentum when they host the New Orleans Hornets at Rose Garden at 10 PM.

NBA Betting Odds:

New Orleans Hornets +2
Portland Trailblazers -2
O/U 189

Martell Webster is one of the reasons why the Blazers are second in the Northwest division and three games behind the leading Denver Nuggets.

Webster is averaging 18 points per game this month; he played 48 minutes and scored a career-high 28 points (9-19 FG, 6-13 3PT, 4-4 FT) Saturday night at Detroit.

With Brandon Roy out with a hamstring injury and Jerry Bayless out with an ankle injury Webster has become a bigger part of the offense. "Everybody contributed to this tonight," Webster said about beating Detroit. "As far as records, I don’t care. We won the game, and we earned it."

The Blazers have the third overall best defense in the league allowing opponents just 94.3 points per game. Pro NBA betting fans should expect a bigger effort from this defense as they are up to face a Hornets team that is coming off putting 110 points in the loss against the Nuggets on Saturday.

David West is probable for New Orleans after missing Saturday night with a sprained left ankle that he hurt on Friday.

Chris Paul is having a good week averaging 23.3 over the past three games, but don’t expect Darius Songaila to bring a good performance to the table even though he had a season-high of 20 points when he started in the West.

"In basketball, when a guy is out, different guys step up," Paul said. "Darius was real big tonight."

The Blazers are looking for their fourth win in five games versus New Orleans. Last time they met the Blazers they beat them 86-78.

My pick: Blazers
