NBA Insider – Championship Weekend Preview
Basketball betting warms up wagering for this weekend’s NFL playoff games. Before you blow your bankroll on pigskin Sunday, check out the betting action from the hardwood.
Oklahoma City Thunder at Cleveland Cavaliers
This games features a matchup of two of the NBA’s most prolific scorers. The Thunder and talented forward Kevin Durant come to Cleveland to face LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
Durant and Oklahoma City will be coming off a game in Memphis on Friday. The versatile 6-foot-9 sniper is averaging more than 29 points per game this season and has netted 30 or more points in six of his last seven games heading into Friday.
James and the Cavs have a huge home tilt with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night before getting a day off Friday. James has also been scoring at a breakneck pace. He’s averaging 29.6 points per night and has scored 30 or more points in five of his last six games heading into Thursday.
Portland Trail Blazers at Detroit Pistons
Portland has battled the injury bug all season. The Blazers recently returned star guard Brandon Roy from a hamstring injury only to have him re-aggravate the injury in a win over Philadelphia on Wednesday. Roy, who leads Portland with 23 points per game, is listed as day-to-day. Without him in the lineup, the Trail Blazers are 2-1 SU and against the NBA pointspreads this year.
Detroit grabbed a big win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night despite injuries to some of its key contributors. The Pistons also know about playing with injuries. After having its stars in and out for most of the season, Detroit still has a question mark next to Tayshaun Prince. The lanky defender hasn’t played since January 9 after hurting his knee.
Orlando Magic at Charlotte Bobcats
The Magic pulled themselves out of a three-game skid with a win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. Orlando is still reeling, losing seven of its last 10 games heading into Friday’s contest against the Sacramento Kings. Vince Carter’s struggles from the floor are one of the reasons for this slump. He hasn’t cracked double figures in scoring since New Year’s Day, averaging just under eight points per game this month. Ankle and shoulder problems have slowed the once-explosive scorer.
The Bobcats are the hottest team in the NBA, winning nine of their last 10 while going 6-4 against the NBA pointspreads. The combination of forward Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson have sparked this run. Wallace is averaging a double-double while Jackson has settled in to his new surroundings, scoring almost 21 points a night as a Bobcat. Charlotte faces the Atlanta Hawks on Friday before hosting Orlando on Saturday night.
