NBA East Coast Action – Lebron then Kobe for Toronto… Ouch

February 4, 2009

Heavy East Coast NBA Betting – Raptors Dominated By LeBron, Get Visit From Kobe Tonight

LA Clippers +13.5 over ORLANDO MAGIC

The Clippers are bad. Really bad. But are they double-digit bad against the Magic without Jameer Nelson? Nelson chipped in 16.7 points per game and added 5.4 assists, but way more importantly he ran the offense with precision. Orlando has been a betting beast this season, going 36-11 ATS this season. But what’s going to happen with Jameer Nelson nursing a torn labrum potentially out for 4-6 weeks? They’re chances of continuing on this monster streak are over.

Orlando is 19-6 ATS in their last 25 games and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against the Clippers. While the Clippers are winless against the NBA betting line on the road and overall, but squeaking out a win against the line with Baron Davis going up against who-knows on Orlando will give the Clippers a strong chance of using their perimeter shooting to cover the spread. Don’t underestimate the power of Camby using this as a moment to prove just why he shouldn’t have been snubbed off the All-Star list.

New Jersey Nets EVEN over WASHINGTON WIZARDS

Can anyone say “OVER”? The Nets are coming off two strong wins, one in Philadelphia and the other with a decapitation of the Bucks. Jersey has been a strong road bet, going 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games, though they’ve won just 2-8 SU in their last 10 games.

Washington just earned their tenth win…and it’s almost All-Star weekend. Pathetic. Going 5-13 SU in their last 18 games at home is a big part of it, but expecting them to topple a New Jersey Nets team that has gone 8-2 SU against them is a tall order. Don’t expect Washington to fit the bill.

Kobe Bryant -7.5 over TORONTO RAPTORS

Kobe is coming off a huge 61-point performance in Madison Square Garden. The Raptors are coming off an 18-point loss to LeBron and the Cavs from last night. Kobe has always enjoyed destroying the Raptors, and Toronto is at its worst right now. Amidst trade rumors, a horrific coach who has no business in the NBA and injuries, Toronto will be happy to simply escape this game alive. The Lakers have beaten them by double-digits in their last three meetings, and tonight will not be an exception. The real question is whether Kobe will beat Toronto +7.5…by himself.

Miami Heat +4 over DETROIT PISTONS

This is a matchup nightmare for the Pistons. Wade can tool Iverson, and the inside presence of Detroit has been virtually non-existent. Miami is a stiff 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games, and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 roadies. Detroit is the opposite, winning just one game against the line at home in their last eight attempts. Don’t be caught dead betting on Detroit, while the surging Heat burn them on their way to a playoff seed.

Clevland Cavaliers -5.5 over NEW YORK KNICKS

Ah, walking in the shadow of greatness. How does it feel, I wonder? Kobe stepped in to MSG and dropped 61. What can LeBron do? At the very least, he can cover, especially considering  that the Cavs are 4-1 SU in their last 5 against the Knicks. I love the Knicks overall as a betting bandwagon, but against LeBron and the Cavs, the Knicks have never stood a chance. Witness greatness, New York, because the closest you’ll feel to enjoying LeBron: when he’s spanking you upside the head with his legend.
