NBA Betting – Who’ll Win The Rookie Challenge MVP?

February 18, 2011

If you’re looking to place some NBA Betting wagers before Sunday’s All-Star game, why wait? You can start on Friday night, where the BetOnline.com Sports Book is now taking wagers on who’ll win the Rookie Challenge MVP Award.

Here are the favorites:

Blake Griffin (+200): Considering that Griffin is the only participant in the Rookie Challenge who is actually playing in the All-Star game, it seems appropriate he’s the favorite to win the MVP, right?

And why wouldn’t he be, as on his home court, Blake is ready to put on a show. He’s been doing it all season to the tune of 24 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, not only making him an All-Star this year, but a YouTube phenomenon as well.

When making your NBA Betting picks, be warned though, Griffin is competing in Saturday’s dunk contest and Sunday’s All-Star game. Will he take it easy on Friday night?

John Wall (+550): If you’re looking to bet on someone besides Griffin, John Wall might be the man to go with. The rookie point guard from Washington will have the ball in his hands for a big chunk of this game, and won’t be afraid to dish it around.

On the year, Wall leads all rookies averaging 8.9 assists per game to go along with the 15 points a contest he’s dropping in as well. Also, no one enters this game hotter than the Wizards point guard, who has averaged 17 points a game over his last five.

DeMar DeRozan (+600): In the last eight Rookie-Sophomore games, the Sophomores have won seven. So doesn’t it seem smart to wager on one for MVP?

The one with the best odds is Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan, who has been one of the pleasant surprises in this year’s NBA season. On the year, DeRozan is averaging 15.9 points per game, which is second on Toronto’s roster.

Stephen Curry (+700): When it comes to the NBA Betting wagers, is there a smarter pick on the board than Curry at 7-1? It seems like he’s almost overqualified to be playing in this game.

Looking at his raw stats prove that Curry is one of the most unique players in the league, as he’s averaging 18 points, six assists and over 1.5 three’s and steals a game.

Curry might be the best bet on the board.

Although…

Tyreke Evans (+700): Say what you want about Evans’ troubles getting along with rookie DeMarcus Cousins this year in Sacramento. This guy can flat out ball, and like Curry, seems almost too good to be playing in this game.

The stats prove that, as Evans is averaging 18 points per game, and has put up an average of 22 over his last three.

Don’t forget too, that Evans won the MVP in this game last year, leading the Rookies to a surprise victory.

Can he do it again? At 7-1, why not?
