NBA Betting Saturday- Bad Teams to Yield Big Profits on March 5
March 5, 2011
Sometimes, NBA betting handicappers can make a killing by backing bad teams in the sportsbook. Sometimes, not wanting to back bad teams is something that hoops handicappers just can’t avoid.
Such is the case in some games on Saturday, March 5, where the Toronto Raptors battle the New Jersey Nets, the Minnesota Timberwolves take on the Washington Wizards and the Indiana Pacers travel to Houston to take on the Rockets. Keep reading for a preview of each game below.
March 5– NBA Games
** Records and stats not counting Friday night games.
Toronto Raptors (17-44) at New Jersey Nets (17-43)
Where: The O2 Arena, London
When: 3:00 pm EST
Fair NBA Odds: Toronto +3 ½
Analysis: Yes, the NBA is sending the Dinosaurs and the Holes to London to showcase NBA basketball. I wonder what the online sports betting fans over in Britain are thinking right now. This is why the NBA is having issues. Maybe, David Stern will get lucky and Londoners won’t let the Dinosaurs or Holes leave the city. As far as the actual game is concerned, the trends say that Toronto covers in this incredibly insignificant contest. Toronto is 4 and 1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams. The Dinos are also 5 and 2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in New Jersey. Joisey is 2 and 7 ATS in their last 9 games after playing on 0 days of rest. I’ll ride the Dinosaurs in the second game between these 2 in London this weekend.
Minnesota Timberwolves (15-47) at Washington Wizards (15-45)
Where: Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia
When: 7:00 pm EST
Fair NBA Odds: Minnesota +1 ½
Analysis: I just have to believe that Minnesota is a better team than the Washington Wizards. Although there’s a chance that the T’Wolves go off as the NBA odds chalk in this contest on Saturday, I’m still sticking with Minny. So, even if Minny is at -2 ½ to beat Washington in D.C., I’m backing them. Minnesota is 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 on the road. That’s a good trend. Washington is 1 and 4 ATS in their lat 5 home games as well as being 2 and 5 against the spread in their last 7 games overall. The Wizards are also 8 and 20 against the spread in their last 28 games versus a team with a losing straight up record. I’ll side with the T’Wolves in this matchup.
Indiana Pacers (27-33) at Houston Rockets (31-32)
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, Texas
When: 8:30 pm EST
Fair NBA Odds: Indiana +3 ½
Analysis: Both of these teams are decent squads. I could go either way in the game, but the trends support Indiana covering the NBA spread on Saturday. The Pacers are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 games after 0 days of rest and they are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, but there are no trends supporting Houston. The Rockets are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games at home. Indiana is 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings and the Pacers are 5 and 2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between the two in Houston. The underdog is 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings. Indiana figures to be the underdog in this contest because they’re the away team. I’ll take the points and back the Pacers versus the Rockets on Saturday.
