NBA Betting Prop Wagers Up for LeBron’s Return to Cleveland on Thursday Night
December 2, 2010
NBA betting prop wagers are already up in the sprotsbook for LeBron James’ return to Cleveland as a Miami Heat on Thursday night.
For those of you living in a cave and just discovering that there is electricity and something called the Internet, LeBron made a huge stink by deciding to sign with the Miami Heat this past summer. Forget the fact, that technically LeBron was traded to the Heat over the summer, the fact remains that Cleveland fans are disgusted with the former Cavs player. Why? Well, for starters, King James grew up in Akron, Ohio.

He’s an Ohioan through and through meaning that his decision to take off and play for the hated Heat is as bad as it gets. The least LeBron could have done was take his ridiculous (in a good way!) game to a Western Conference team.
Miami is so worried about LeBron’s safety that they’re not releasing any information on their travel plans. I wouldn’t either. Cleveland fans are known for getting extremely emotional about their teams and LeBron did leave those guys in the lurch. The greatest thing about all of this is that Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who spent 14 years as a Cavalier before going to Miami, is also worried about traveling to Cleveland. Now, that’s funny. Sorry ZI, but my gut tells me that most Cavaliers’ fans aren’t going to be cat-calling and trying to throw hot dog wrappers at you during the game.
Let’s take a look at a couple of the props for the Miami vs. Cleveland game on Thursday, Dec. 2nd.
LeBron James total points over 26 ½ -125 vs. under 26 ½ -105
I hate to say this to all of you LeBron fans but James, unlike the Kobester, actually wants to be liked. Yeah, it’s true! He’s already talking about how “emotional” it is going to be to return to Cleveland. If it was Kobe, he’d put up 68 to 80 against the Cavs in the first 3 quarters and then ask if he could sit in the owner’s box during the 4th quarter. That’s not LeBron. LeBron doesn’t play well when he’s emotional. I say go under.
LeBron James total rebounds and assists over 14 ½ -125 under 14 ½ +105
I’m going with over 14 ½ on this because I believe LeBron dishes at least 10 assists and gets at least 5 boards. I don’t believe he’s going to have a great shooting night but he should still be able to set up D-Wade, Chris Bosh and the rest of the Heat. James should also out rebound more than a couple of the Cavaliers’ starters.
Will LeBron James do his pregame chalk ritual?
Yes -3000
The Basketball betting sportsbook isn’t offering a “No” wager option for this. So, I guess it’s either “Yes” or a non-bet. Shaq thinks that LeBron is “not going to do it”, but I disagree with Big Daddy. To me, LeBron has to do the chalk ritual. I mean, that’s his thing. If he doesn’t, then he’s basically giving in to the Cleveland fans and although LeBron wants everybody to like him, he’s a proud individual.
So, he’ll throw up the chalk and then the Miami Heat, who is only 10 and 8 on the season, will lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
That’s life in the NBA.
