NBA Betting Preview Kings @ Pistons
January 2, 2009
The Sacramento Kings (8-24 SU, 14-18 ATS, 15-17 O/U) jumped out to an early lead in their 92-90 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, getting a stellar game from former all-star center Brad Miller who scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and shooting guard Kevin Martin who tied Miller with 20 points
The Kings failed to cover the 2.5-point spread for BetOnline NBA sports betting backers while the 182 total points played UNDER the posted O/U total of 192.5 points.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Kings who now look to avoid dropping their ninth straight game on the road.
"It was good to be back out with the guys. Everyone needed a win," said Martin, who averaged a career-high 23.7 points last season, but has been limited to 10 games this season due to the injury. "It’s tough to sit out, you don’t feel part of the team, whether you are on a 20-game winning streak or a 20-game losing streak. You want to be out there."
The Detroit Pistons (19-11 SU, 14-16 ATS, 12-18 O/U) dominated the New Jersey Nets in the first half despite missing three of their top players before holding on for an 83-75 victory on Wednesday. Detroit failed to cover the spread for BetOnline NBA sports betting backers as a 5.5-point home favorite in the BetOnline Sportsbook while the 158 points fell UNDER the posted O/U total of 188.5 points.
Veteran shooting guard Allen Iverson scored a team-high 19 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists while forward Tayshaun Prince added 14 points and seven rebounds in the win. Richard Hamilton sat out for the third straight game while forwards Antonio McDyess and Rasheed Wallace each missed about three quarters of the contest.
"When any team in the league loses three of their top six guys, things are going to change for them," Pistons coach Michael Curry said. "Luckily, a lot of other guys stepped up."
"No one was going to come in and be Sheed, Rip or Dice, but we have guys who will come off the bench and help us in their own way," said Iverson.
