NBA Betting Picks – Don’t Fall Asleep On Philadelphia 76ers Against Magic
February 10, 2011
It’s taken a long time, but the Philadelphia 76ers are finally producing mega value in NBA betting picks. The sudden upswing of Philadelphia, which is 7-2 SU in their last 9 games, has come off the heels of a disastrous trade for Elton Brand a couple years ago, followed by a draft bust in Evan Turner and the questionable hiring of Doug Collins (who is a great commentator, but not a great coach). It’s like taking a bunch of wrong turns to eventually end up in the right spot.
Which is coincidentally the opposite feeling we have about the Orlando Magic, who make blockbuster trades to try and reenergize their roster. I wouldn’t get that excited over Orlando’s win at home over the Clippers. Even with that victory, they’re still just 3-6 SU and ATS in NBA betting picks.

Orlando does have the brand power in this matchup, and the trends also lean in their direction. The Magic are 8-1 SU in their last 9 games when playing the Sixers and they’re also 6-3 ATS during that run. The Magic are also 7-1 SU in their last 8 games in Philadelphia, which is relevant since there’s basically no NBA betting line on this game.
Orlando Magic (33-20) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (24-27)
Wednesday, February 9th — Wells Fargo Center — 7:00pm EST
NBA Betting Line: Orlando -1.0 (196.5)
Philadelphia, however, has been a two-faced team. There’s the team they are right this minute, and the team they’ve been for the last few years. Philly has strictly been a “no way in hell am I betting on them team” in the past. But right now they’re pretty darn good. Things I like about Philadelphia right now in NBA betting picks: they’re 15-9 ATS at home this season, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games and coming off two wins against New York and one over Atlanta.
Orlando is a team is generally starting to worry me. I don’t think the trade for Arenas and Hedo was the right move, especially since it meant losing Rashard Lewis (and yes I know I will catch a ton of flak for saying Lewis is effective, but he was with Orlando as long as Turk was there). I think chemistry is something that Philadelphia has right now, regardless of Turner’s struggles, and something that Orlando is still trying to find. That’s why the Sixers have my vote in NBA betting picks.

Detroit Pistons +1.5 over CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Secretly I want the Cavaliers to keep losing so their home game against the Wizards over the weekend actually means something. The Cavaliers haven’t actually been that bad in NBA betting picks in their last 6 losses. They’re 4-1-1 ATS during those games. That’s why a pick ‘em dooms them in my eyes. Detroit is better than most people think and while Cleveland’s day will come, I just don’t see it here.
Milwaukee Bucks -1.0 over WASHINGTON WIZARDS
The Bucks aren’t taking any chances when it comes to the health of Andrew Bogut and Brandon Jennings, and I don’t blame them. The fact is, however, that Milwaukee is still a very well coached, athletic and intelligent team that knows where its strengths lie. That’s pretty much the opposite way I describe the Wizards, who are 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games. There is nothing that excites about the Wizards – not even John Wall – and a 92-74 drubbing over the Raptors has my interest at least perking up with the Bucks in NBA betting picks.
