NBA Betting Picks – Can Pacers Run The Floor With Miami Heat?

February 8, 2011

Laugh all you want when it comes to the idea of Indiana keeping pace with the Miami Heat, but when you know you have to keep up with two of the game’s best scorers, there’s no better time to unleash your own scorers on a ballistic rampage from the field. The Pacers are -10.0 underdogs in NBA betting picks. Why wouldn’t you just try to outrun the Miami Heat in a game nobody will expect you to win?

Of course, that’s exactly what happened the last time these two teams met.

The Pacers actually beat Miami on their home floor 93-77 in one of the biggest upsets of the season. LeBron and company most certainly don’t want a repeat performance, especially since they’re smoking hot right now at 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in NBA betting picks.

If you go by the betting trends, then Indiana isn’t a smart play. They’re just 3-14 SU in their last 17 games on the road with a 1-3-1 ATS road record in their most recent five games. They’re also 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games on the road in Miami.

Indiana Pacers (21-27) vs. Miami Heat (37-14)

Tuesday, February 8th — AmericanAirlines Arena — 7:30pm EST

NBA Betting Line: Miami -10.0 (199.0)

What might convince you to take the Pacers on the number is the fact that they’re riding a four game winning streak where they’ve averaged 106.5 points per game. They’re also 3-1 ATS in

NBA betting picks during that stretch of games.

The worst thing that could happen to Indiana is if they don’t come out guns blazing. The Miami Heat won’t let the Pacers sneak up on them this time, and that means shutting down and demoralizing Darren Collison and Danny Granger right off the bat. Granger especially has been hot-and-cold, averaging just 17.8 points per game.

You grade the Miami Heat on how well the big-three are playing. That’s not how you grade the Pacers. They have six players notching double digits including Mike Dunleavy and Tyler Hansbrough. Depth is a reason why Indiana beat Miami the last time around in November, and just as much of a reason why you can take them to cover in NBA betting picks tonight.

MILWUAKEE BUCKS -7.5 over Toronto Raptors

Oh my lord! The Bucks are back down to two players on the injury report, and it’s two guys we don’t care about (Gooden and Redd)! Still, it’s hard to get a read on the Bucks since they’ve had to overcome so much. They’re just 1-4 and 2-3 ATS in their last 5 games, but they’re also 4-1 SU in their last 5 games against the Raptors. And seriously, are you going to bet on Toronto?

They’re just 1-13 SU in their last 14 games and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games. They’re also winless at 0-5 SU and ATS on the road recently and perhaps the worst, overall value in NBA betting picks.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER -7.5 over Memphis Grizzlies

The Oklahoma City Thunder have gone 5-1 SU in their last 6 games, which includes a 7-1 SU record in their past 8 home games. One of the reasons that they’re playing so damn well is because they’ve figured out a way to overcome the size differential in their front court. If anything, Oklahoma City has proven they’ve owned the Grizzlies with a 7-3 SU and 8-2 ATS record in their past 10 meetings. Take the Thunder to protect that solid record, despite Memphis’s decent play recently in NBA online betting picks.
