Monday, January 11 7:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Hornets (19-16 SU, 17-18 ATS, 14-20-1 O/U) are back amongst the living pro NBA basketball betting enthusiasts!
After getting off to an uninspiring 4-8 start this season that eventually cost former head coach Byron Scott his job, the Hornets have bounced back nicely, winning six consecutive games and 12 of its 17 last overall to move three games above .500 for the first time this season.
The Hornets will take on a struggling Philadelphia 76ers (11-25 SU, 15-21 ATS, 18-17-1 O/U) team that has dropped six of its last 10 games and 19 of its last 25 games overall.
Here is a look at some key NBA basketball betting trends for tonight’s matchup.
- Hornets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win.
- 76ers are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. win.
- Hornets are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings.
- Under is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings.
- Under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia.
Philly 411
Philadelphia did manage to snap a two-game skid the last time out, beating the reeling Detroit Pistons 104-94 on Saturday to cash in for NBA gamblers as a 4.5-point road underdog as small forward Elton Brand scored a team-high 25 points to lead six players in double figures in scoring.
The Sixers have gone 2-3 ATS over the last five games and a respectable 5-5 ATS over the last 10 games overall.
New Orleans 411
The Hornets won their sixth consecutive game on Sunday, defeating the lowly Washington Wizards 115-110 to cover the NBA moneyline as a 1.5-point road underdog.
All-star point guard Chris Paul led the way with a double-double of 26 points and 14 assists while Peja Stojakovic added 20 points in the win.
New Orleans has gone 5-1 ATS over its last six games and 5-5 ATS over the last 10 games overall.
Analysis: With both teams playing pretty solid ball lately, this game should be very competitive tonight pro basketball betting enthusiasts. The Hornets have beaten up on the lowly Wizards and Nets in their last two victories, but also took out the Oklahoma City Thunder, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets in its previous three games.
Philadelphia has gone 4-3 SU over its last seven games and 2-2 SU over the last four games while scoring over 100 points in three of those contests and four of their last five games overall.
Despite Philadelphia’s improved play recently, news out of Philadelphia over the last two days hints at the fact that head coach Eddie Jordan could be in big trouble in just his first season with the team.
I’m backing the New Orleans Hornets in this matchup based on the fact that they’ve been playing some really solid defense lately. The Hornets have held their opponents under 100 points in five of the last six games while getting much better offensive performances from the team’s complimentary players.
Both team’s offensive and defensive scoring statistics are nearly identical, but New Orleans has two legitimate all-star players in Chris Paul and David West while the Sixers have none.
Paul should be able to get into the lane area tonight at will against Philadelphia’s almost nonexistent defense while setting up his teammates for easy buckets to help the Hornets cruise to victory.
NBA Expert Picks: New Orleans +1.5 Points
