NBA Betting – NBA’s Hottest Teams ATS
February 27, 2009
The NBA sports betting season is fresh out of the All Star break at BetOnline Sportsbook, and the following teams have been red hot for NBA bettors since:
1) Cleveland Cavaliers (44-11) (37-18 ATS) (5-0 ATS L/5 +$500): Since picking up a home win and cover against the Phoenix Suns right before the All Star break, the Cavaliers have picked up four more victories both SU & ATS to become the NBA’s best bet with an overall ATS record of 37-18. Back-to-back road covers against Toronto and Milwaukee were mighty impressive right out of the break, but the 21-point beating they dished out to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night certainly signaled THE changing of the guard in the Central Division. Lebron and company has outscored their opponents by 15+ points per game their L/5, but that average will certainly decrease with a tough four-game road trip scheduled ahead of them against Houston, San Antonio, Atlanta, and Miami. With a 17-game lead in the division, the Central is theirs for the taking. That said; they want home court advantage in the post-season, so look for the Cavaliers to continue playing at a high level throughout the remainder of the second half of the regular season.
2) Utah Jazz (34-23) (31-26 ATS) (5-0 ATS L/5 +$500): The Jazz pulled to five games over .500 in the ATS department with its recent five game winning streak, and they enter Wednesday night’s meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves 8-2 both SU & ATS their L/10 overall games. Head Coach Jerry Sloan’s club is finally 100% healthy and firing on all cylinders. Their recent play has been fueled by the defense that’s held three of its L/5 and five out of its L/10 opponents to 90 points or less. Utah’s outscored its L/5 opponents by 12 PPG, and the offense has either matched its offensive output (#7 at 102+ PPG) or surpassed it in eight of its L/10 games played. With recent home victories against the New Orleans Hornets, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Lakers, the Jazz have thrown their hat into the ring as one of the major players in the Western Conference. The schedule should be a breeze over its next three (@ MIN, SAC, @ GS), but gets tougher when the calendar turns to March with games scheduled to go against Houston and Denver.
3) Boston Celtics (46-12) (33-25 ATS) (4-1 ATS L/5 +$290): Head Coach Doc Rivers really has a special roster on his hands. It’s just unreal how well this team steps up when a major cog of the team’s success goes down with an injury. The record now stands at 2-0 both SU & ATS without the services of Kevin Garnett, and the two teams defeated weren’t chopped liver either. Phoenix entered Sunday’s contest having dropped 140, 140, and 142 points on its opponents in its previous three contests and the Celtics easily disposed of them by a 128-108 final count as two-point underdogs. They followed that thrashing up with a massacre of the Denver Nuggets that might have killed the Nuggs confidence for the remainder of the regular season. Since dropping three in a row for NBA bettors at the beginning of February, the Celtics have covered 5 of their L/7 overall and outscored their L/5 opponents by 14.4 points per game. Look for more good fortune to occur for their betting backers with games slated to go against the Clippers, Pacers, Pistons, and Nets before their huge home clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 6th.
And the rest….
4) Phoenix Suns (32-24) (21-3-22 ATS) (4-1 ATS L/5 +$290):
5) Sacramento Kings (12-46) (27-31 ATS) (4-1 ATS L/5 +$290):
6) Indiana Pacers (24-35) (32-25-2 ATS) (4-1 ATS L/5 +$290):
(RANK) (TEAM) (SU RECORD) (ATS RECORD) (ATS RECORD L/5 +$$)
