NBA Betting Hornets vs Celtics

December 13, 2008

The NBA season is in full swing and BetOnline Sportsbook has all of the action covered for sports betting fanatics as the New Orleans Hornets (12-6, 8-9-1 ATS) invade Beantown to do battle with the Boston Celtics (21-2, 13-10 ATS). Last year these two teams hooked up twice in a week in a home and home series with both home teams coming out victorious. The Celts won in Boston 112-92 and the Hornets took the contest in the Bayou 113-106 with three straight games in this series having gone ‘over’ the ‘total’. Boston’s cover at home last season snapped New Orleans’ three-game win streak both SU and ATS in the series.

The Hornets have been on cruise control since the month of December began. Their basketball bettors have been the beneficiaries of some strong play on the offensive side of the court, especially in Wednesday night’s 105-89 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. In spite of the fact that they were outscored 32-17 in the 4th quarter, Hornets bettors picked up a victory against a hefty 15-point spread. C Tyson Chandler notched a double double, picking up 13 points and 11 boards, but the story once again was PG Chris Paul. Paul lit it up with15 points on a perfect shooting night and contributed 15 assists and four rebounds in just over 30 minutes of playing time. Five Hornets also scored in double digits.

Since the start of December, the Hornets have scored at least 104 points in each of their games, and have held their opponents to 91 point or fewer. New Orleans is 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their L/8 overall.

Things haven’t been so shabby in Boston either. The Celtics picked up another easy ‘W’ for their NBA bettors on Thursday night by cruising past the hapless Wizards 122-88 in our nation’s capitol. Though the outcome of the game was in doubt until the 4th quarter, a 33-14 surge to close the game provided a comfortable SU victory and was more than enough to take care of the 10-point spread.

Almost everyone got in on the act for the men in green, as a whopping seven Celtics scored in double digits. PF Kevin Garnett had another fantastic game scoring 11 points, hauling in 12 rebounds and chipping in seven assists but the leader of the day was SF Paul Pierce. Pierce scored a team-high 22 points, had six boards, and eight assists but most notably went a perfect 12/12 from the foul line. As a team, the C’s shot a blistering 55.7% from the floor and 53.3% from Downtown.

Oddsmakers have installed the Celtics as seven-point favorites in this NBA betting clash, with the ‘total’ coming in at 189.5. Keep an eye on the ‘under’ in this game as eight of the L/10 meetings between these teams in Boston have failed to reach the number.

Will the Hornets be able to end Boston’s 13-game winning streak or will the “Beasts of the East” continue to roll towards another NBA championship? Login to your BetOnline account to get in on all of the action before tonight’s tip!
