NBA Betting – Streaking Wizards To Breeze By Knicks

April 12, 2010

The Washington Wizards have been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season but the tide has turned for them recently. A strong finish to the year would mean a lot to their young roster for 2010-11.

Washington Wizards @ New York Knicks

Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
TV: MSG
NBA Betting Odds: Knicks -3.5

The Week That Was: Wizards

The Wizards will have a lot of free agents this summer – as many as 10 – but they are playing like one heck of a team right now. Well, at least by their standards.

They are 4-3 in their last seven games, which isn’t too bad for a team that’s 25-55 overall.

They key difference has been forward Andray Blatche, who nearly missed his first career triple-double on Sunday. Since the All-Star Break, Blatche has averaged 22.1 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.4 steals and nearly one block per game.

He is now one of the key cornerstones of the future and with him and Gilbert Arenas next year, the Wizards at least have something to work with.

The Week That Was: Knicks

Few teams happier to see the end of the regular season than the Knicks.

New York is 28-52 and is eyeing a big free agent class with plenty of cap space. On the court this year they have been absolutely atrocious. They have 28 wins but only nine of those wins have come in their last 32 games.

The Knicks still do have Danilo Galinari, Wilson Chandler and a couple of other minor pieces to match up with whatever stars they can get in the offseason, but for now, the cupboard is fairly bare.

Outlook & Pick

The Knicks have won five straight at home against the Wizards but that should change. The Wizards front court with Blatche and JaVale McGee should have a field day on the thin Knicks front lines.

The Wizards have been able to beat the bad teams recently as their last four wins have come against New Orleans, Golden State, New Jersey and even the Boston Celtics.

They are just 11-29 on the road this year but this is very much a winnable game for them.

The Knicks are a sloppy team and will be in their third game in four nights.
