NBA Bets – Wager On The Three Point Shooting Contest This All-Star Weekend

February 18, 2011

Can’t wait until Sunday night’s All-Star game to get your NBA Bets in? There’s no need to, as there are plenty of ways to make some quick cash earlier in the weekend.
Let’s start by breaking down the odds to the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout!

Ray Allen (+200): It only seems appropriate that the favorite to win the three point contest be the greatest  three point shooter of all-time. That man is of course is Ray Allen, who just recently broke Reggie Miller’s career mark of 2,560 three point buckets.

And even at the age of 34 Allen doesn’t seem to be slowing down, as he’s again amongst the league-leaders in that category. Currently, he’s third in the NBA in three balls made this season, with 121. Allen is also shooting over 45 percent from behind the arc.

Even though he doesn’t have the best odds, are you wagering against Ray Allen in the NBA Bets?

James Jones (+250): If you’re looking to stay away from Allen in the NBA Bets Saturday night, we strongly consider wagering on Miami’s James Jones.

While some would say that Jones has been the lucky recipient of a lot of open looks (thanks to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade), he has taken advantage, burying 93 three’s this year. And while that number may not be overly impressive relative to some of the other shooters here, don’t forget that Jones averages just six points, and attempts under five field goals a game.

No one is more efficient than Jones is.

Dorrell Wright (+275): So who is No. 1 in three pointers made this year? That man would be Wright, who has taken on an important role in Golden State’s fast-paced offense. Wright is averaging 2.5 three’s per game made per game, which is also tops in the league as well.

However, when making your NBA Bets, be wary of Wright. As much as he’s filling up the basket in quantity, it isn’t always quality, as his 331 three point attempts are most in the league.

Kevin Durant (+350): Looking for a bit of a long shot for Saturday night’s competition? Who better to wager on than the league’s leading scorer? Durant is averaging 28.9 points per game, more than two points better than anyone else in the league.

And while Durant is only shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc, nobody can get hotter, faster than the 21-year-old. He’s averaging 1.8 three’s made a game.
Daniel Gibson (+350): Going off at the same odds as Durant is Daniel “Boobie,” Gibson of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Like Jones, Gibson is a bit of a prisoner of circumstance, as he’s averaging just 29 minutes a game, significantly less than Durant, Allen and others. Still, that hasn’t stopped him from shooting 44 percent from downtown this season.

If you’re looking for value in your NBA Bets, Gibson may be your man.

Paul Pierce (+500): With the worst odds, Pierce can’t be a smart bet, right? Think again as he’s the defending champion in this competition.

Don’t forget that little nugget of information when making your NBA Bets!
