NBA Bets – Take The Magic and Celtics Friday Night
January 28, 2011
Three of last year’s final four teams highlight Friday night’s NBA Bets schedule. With Chicago hosting Orlando, and Boston visiting Phoenix, who should you wager on?
Orlando Magic (30-16 SU, 21-24-1 ATS) at Chicago Bulls (31-14 SU, 25-18-2 ATS)
Friday, January 28: 8:00 p.m. Live from United Center, Chicago, IL
NBA Basketabll Betting Odds:
Orlando: -1
Chicago: +1
Total: 187
Starting in the Windy City, Friday’s NBA Bets showdown features a pair of the Eastern Conference’s top teams. It also features of the best players in the league, when Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard get together on opposite sidelines.
For Rose, it’s been a banner season for the third-year guard out of Memphis, as he will start his first NBA All-Star Game next month. And with the numbers he’s putting up, it’s no wonder why, as he leads the Bulls in points (24.6) and assists per game (8.1), while also chipping in close to five boards a game. What makes Rose’s performance even more impressive though, is that he’s done it short-handed, as both Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah have missed time with injuries.
And truth be told, with Noah out here, the Magic seem like the NBA Bets pick to make.
As good as the Bulls are defensively, the concern here is whether they’ll be able to stop Howard in the paint. The 6’11 center is a load, averaging 22 points and 13 rebounds a contest and is the midst of a streak in which he’s gotten at least 19 points and 14 boards in each of his last four games.
Rose can’t do it alone in Chicago, and without help down low we see them struggling against Orlando. Take the Magic here.
NBA Bets Pick: Orlando -1
Boston Celtics (35-10 SU, 22-21-2 ATS) at Phoenix Suns (20-24 SU, 17-25-2 ATS)
Friday, January 28: 10:30 p.m. ESPN, Live from US Airways Arena, Phoenix, AZ
NBA Basketabll Betting Odds:
Boston: -3 ½
Phoenix: +3 ½
Total: 199 ½
In the second half of this NBA Bets double-header, the reigning NBA runner-up heads out to Phoenix to take on the defending Western Conference runner-up when the Celtics visit the Suns.
Unfortunately for Suns fans, this Phoenix squad is a completely different group than the one that was two games away from the NBA Finals last year, as most all of their roster has been turned over in the last eight months. The one constant of course is Steve Nash, the 37-year-old point guard who is averaging 17 points and 11 assists a game.
Still, it’s the same story as the first game, where we just can’t see Nash being able to carry his team alone, against the deep and talented Celtics. Boston has four starters- and five players overall- averaging double-figures, led by Paul Pierce’s 17 points a game. And at point guard, they can counter Nash with the young and skilled Rajon Rondo, who’s averaging 10 points and 12 assists a game.
In the end, there’s simply too much talent on Boston’s roster for Phoenix to keep things close.
The NBA Bets wager here is clear. Take the Celtics.
NBA Bets Pick: Boston -3 ½
