The Furious NBA All-Star Prop Betting Rundown!

The Stars have come out to play! Well, the “stars” that the fans and coaches voted in anyways. Damon D and I will be discussing our All-Star snubs this week on the BetOnline NBA Radio podcast, and frankly I’m too hungover to worry about a cranking out a 15,000 word article on guys like Marcus Camby and Mo Williams who weren’t initially invited, or invited at all.

Before the big game, the NBA All-Stars will be competing in the Skills Competition, and you can damn well be sure that BetOnline is going to have all the NBA odds and lines you’re searching for when wanting to burn some hard earned betting dollars in our sportsbook. Here’s the Furious Rundown! Let’s get to it!

2009 Slam Dunk Competition
Again, if you’re going to let the fans vote for something, then let them vote for these guys! Last year, Dwight Howard donned the red cape and decimated the competition by going above the rim, Kevin Bacon styles, and literally throwing it down. He’s the favorite at -135 to win the competition.

But the seven-footer will have stiff competition. Will good things come in small packages when Nate Robinson tries to become a two-time champion? Nate is known, not only for one of the most memorable dunks when he flew over Spud Webb’s head, but he’s also known for placing second against The Birdman for “most dunk attempts in a single try” with 1,463 attempts at the figure-eight-between-the-legs-off-the-backboard dunk. At +350, Robinson could benefit some betting faithful with some nice throwdown.

However, those two, and Rudy Gay, will be challenged by the fact that all three have already been in the dunk contest before. Howard and Little Nate have gone twice already and this is Gay’s second attempt. So who do I like? You guessed it – the underdog, Rudy Fernandez! Show me something new, son!

Furious Pick: Rudy Fernandez +400

Foot Locker 3-Point Competition
The greatest shooter in UCLA history, Jason Kapono of the Toronto Raptors, won the competition last year. Quite frankly, it’s pretty much been the only impressive thing he’s done in a few years aside from stealing money from the Raptors franchise. Still, the sweet stroking former Bruin has the best chance to repeat because of his timing and rhythm.

Danny Granger’s a scorer, not a shooter. Dequan Cook and Roger Mason have zero business being at All-Star weekend unless they paid for a ticket. Rashard Lewis may threaten Kapono, and Mike Bibby is…well…Mike Bibby. This one is open and shut in my eyes. Bet on the favorite.

Furious Pick: Kapono +185

H-O-R-S-E I-S A-W-E-S-O-M-E
The NBA All-Star weekend will premier the addition of H-O-R-S-E and I’m pretty damned excited. If this is anything like those MJ-Larry McDonald’s commercials, then we are in for a treat! Of course it won’t be, but Durant, Mayo and Joe Johnson are sure to please the crowd. My take on it? Easy. Go with the best pure shooter amongst the three. Remember, there’s no dunking!

Furious Free Pick: Joe Johnson
