NASCAR Sprint Cup – Best Qualifying Match-up Bets in the Samsung Mobile 500

April 17, 2010

Qualifying for the Samsung Mobile 500 is this Friday. Qualifying match-up odds for the race are up in the NASCAR sportsbook.

Which drivers will do well in qualifying? Luckily, sports gamblers don’t have to actually pick a driver versus every other driver during the qualifying round. Betting on the winner of a single match-up can often time lead to nice profits for sports gamblers.

Below is what I feel are the best qualifying match-up race wagers for the Samsung Mobile 500 in the sportsbook.

Race-day: 4/16/2010

Samsung Mobile 500: Qualifying Match-ups

** NASCAR Odds listed in the sportsbook

1. Mark Martin -120 vs. Jimmie Johnson -110 – - Johnson actually started 16th in last week’s race while Martin started 23rd in last week’s race. Martin has started ahead of Jimmie this year and has won a pole, while Jimmie has not won a pole, but the odds are better on Jimmie and this match-up is a toss-up to me. I’m going with the champ at the better odds.

Pick: Jimmie Johnson

2. Jeff Gordon -135 vs. Kasey Kahne +110 – - Kahne started 20th last week while Gordon started 10th. Even though Kasey just signed a deal with Hendrick Motorsports to drive for them starting in 2011, Kahne won’t be able to use all of Hendrick’s great equipment and connections for this qualifying round. Gordo’s and his team have been getting better and better. They could actually win the pole this Friday.

Pick: Jeff Gordon

3. Clint Bowyer -125 vs. Kevin Harvick -105 – - Bowyer started 25th last week while Harvick started 24th. Out of the two, my belief is that Harvick’s car gets faster this Friday while Bowyer’s will most likely stay the same. Because of that, I have to go with Harvick in this match-up. I also love the fact that he’s going off at better odds than Bowyer.

Pick: Kevin Harvick

4. Kyle Busch -135 vs. Tony Stewart +105 – - Tony actually started ahead of Busch last week, but the feeling in most NASCAR circles is that Busch is going to come to Texas with a very fast car. That’s okay. Sometimes, a sports gambler has to go with his gut. My gut tells me that Stewart, even though he’s had a less than spectacular 2010 so far, is the bet. Busch is the logical bet. Stewart is the gut bet. I’ll go with Smoke and try for the better pay out.

Pick: Tony Stewart

5. Ryan Newman -140 vs. Dale Earnhardt Jr. +110 – - Newman didn’t start ahead of Dale Jr. last Saturday but he did finish ahead of him. The Subway Fresh Fit 600 winner is the hot guy on the block this week. No matter to me. I’ll take the driver who started in 5th place last week to win this qualifying match-up, that would be Dale Jr., at better odds.

Pick: Dale Earnhardt Jr.
