NASCAR Power Rankings – Denny and Kyle are still the Two Best NASCAR Bets to Win the Sprint Cup after the All-Star Race
June 2, 2010
The most important thing from a NASCAR betting perspective to come out of this past Saturday’s All-Star race was to notice how well Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. drove. Both of them did well enough to finish in the Top 3 with Truex Jr. finishing 2nd after winning the Showdown earlier in the night and Logano finishing 3rd.
Both drivers are definitely up and comers and I’m interested to see how they do the rest of this year but neither got into the rankings off of their Saturday performances. Why? Because doing well in an All-Star race is nice but it doesn’t give us a clue as to who will win this year’s Sprint Cup Championship.
NASCAR Power Rankings
** NASCAR odds listed in sportsbook are current odds to win Sprint Cup Championship as of this writing.
- Denny Hamlin +500 – - Denny did well enough to finish 4th in the All-Star race. Because of that, he could be one of the favorites this week at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 even though he’s never won at Charlotte.
- Kyle Busch +350 – - Kyle’s 14th place finish in the All-Star race, while brother Kurt actually won, doesn’t mean all that much in the long run. The fact that, like Denny Kyle’s never won at Charlotte could mean a whole helluva a lot this weekend, however.
- Kevin Harvick +1200 – - If anybody deserved to win the All-Star Race, it’s Harvick who has been ultra-consistent so far in 2010. He finished 6th this past Saturday night. His lack of a victory lifetime at Charlotte means that he might not do better than 6th on May 30th.
- Jeff Gordon +500 – - Gordo laid an egg in the All-Star race finishing 20th after an accident. 5 victories at Charlotte mean that he probably won’t lay an egg this Sunday.
- Jimmie Johnson +250 – - Jimmie’s 13th place finish at Charlotte wasn’t bad. He won one of the real races at Charlotte in 2009 and has an average finish of 8.6 on the track. Sports gamblers have found the favorite in the NASCAR sportsbook to win the Coca-Cola 600.
- Matt Kenseth +1800 – - Kenseth finished 8th in the All-Star race and has a decent shot to do better at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
- Jeff Burton +1200 – - Because the best he could do was finish 3rd in the Showdown, Jeff didn’t win a start in the All-Star race. No problem. He’s won at Charlotte 3 times making him a legitimate contender on May 30th.
- Carl Edwards+1500 – - Carl’s never won at Charlotte. It will be interesting to see how he does this Sunday after finishing last this past Saturday night.
- Greg Biffle +2000 – - He finished 2nd in the Showdown and then 9th in the All-Star Race. Biffle has never won at Charlotte. Could this Sunday be the day?
- Mark Martin +2500 – - Martin was part of that Lap 90 accident on Saturday night that affected 5 drivers. He does have 4 victories at Charlotte Motor Speedway meaning that he could do very well on May 30th.
Dropped-out: None
On the Verge: Kurt Busch +2000
Hey, he won the All-Star Race over a track he’s never had success on before. So, maybe, he takes the good fortune he received this past Saturday night and uses it to help him get another victory this Sunday.
This week, drivers stay in Charlotte, North Carolina for the Coca-Cola 600! Log onto the sportsbook and make NASCAR wagers on one of the most exciting races of the year!
