NASCAR Odds – Triple-Duty Driver Busch Is Favored In Two Races This Weekend

February 25, 2011

Those people who follow the NASCAR betting odds have noticed that triple-duty driver Kyle Busch, who races in all three major series, is favored in not one, but two of his races this coming weekend at the Phoenix International Raceway.

He is +150 to win the Lucas Oil 150 in the truck series on Friday night, and +200 in the Bashas Supermarkets 200 in the Nationwide Series on Saturday. In addition to this, he is +700 in the NASCAR odds to win the Subway Fresh Fit 500, the Sprint Cup race on Sunday.

NASCAR Odds

To Win Lucas Oil 150

Camping World Truck Series

  • Austin Dillon +1000
  • Clint Bowyer +250
  • Johnny Sauter +700
  • KYLE BUSCH +150
  • Matt Crafton +1000
  • Ron Hornaday +500
  • Timothy Peters +1200
  • Todd Bodine +500
  • Travis Kvapil +900
  • Field (Any Other Driver) +600

Guys tend to pop in and out of the truck series, and many of the people who win races aren’t necessarily in the running for the championship. One example is Michael Waltrip, the two-time Daytona 500 winner who also won last week’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona. Another is Elliott Sadler, who was second in that race and is more committed to the Nationwide Series.

However, Kyle Busch, who is present and accounted for, is the +150 favorite in the NASCAR odds this week. He was 18th in the truck race at Daytona, but he has a lot of credentials, with 24 wins and ten poles to his credit in the Camping World Truck Series.

NASCAR Odds

To Win Subway Fresh Fit 500

Sprint Cup Series

  • Carl Edwards +700
  • Clint Bowyer +2000
  • Denny Hamlin +500
  • Greg Biffle +1200
  • Jamie McMurray +2000
  • Jeff Burton +2000
  • Jeff Gordon +1000
  • Jimmie Johnson +500
  • Joey Logano +2000
  • Kevin Harvick +1000
  • Kurt Busch +1500
  • KYLE BUSCH +700
  • Mark Martin +1800
  • Matt Kenseth +2000
  • Tony Stewart +1000
  • Field (Any Other Driver) +5000

When you consider this young man’s reputation, it is almost impossible to believe that he is still only 25 years old. He has not won the Daytona 500. He has not won the Chase for the Sprint Cup, and in fact has never been higher than 5th. However, he already has posted 86 wins and 302 top ten finishes across all three of NASCAR’s major touring series. Believe me, when he shows up, everybody’s odds go down.

Maybe the best way to describe Busch is that he is NASCAR’s ultimate "triple duty" driver. It would not be unusual to see him race in a Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series event in the same tour stop. In fact, last year at Bristol he became the first driver to win all three of those races in one week. Those are the kinds of things that ordinary drivers do not do.

NASCAR Odds

To Win Bashas Supermarkets 200

Nationwide Series

  • Aric Almirola +1200
  • Brad Keselowski +500
  • Carl Edwards +400
  • Elliot Sadler +1000
  • Joey Logano +500
  • Justin Allgaier +180
  • Kevin Harvick +400
  • KYLE BUSCH +200
  • Reed Sorenson +2000
  • Ryan Newman +1500
  • Trevor Bayne +1500
  • Field (Any Other Driver) +700

Busch is not necessarily singular but he is still somewhat distinctive in that he is a threat to win any race he enters, no matter what it is. In fact, if you look at his NASCAR odds in all three races this week, he is the top favorite in two of them and the third favorite in the other (the "main event"). In fact, if you parlayed him to be a triple winner, you wouldn’t be laying an astronomical price at all – somewhere in the neighborhood of 60/1. When you consider that it’s something that hasn’t been done by anyone but him, that is indeed an interesting NASCAR odds proposition.
