Race Matchups

1. Kyle Busch -140 vs. Jeff Gordon +110 – - Gordo’s 6th at the Budweiser Shootout was nice.  Kyle ended up in an accident that killed his chances of winning the race.  That still doesn’t justify such a huge NASCAR odds difference between the 2 in this race matchup.  Gordo is even a bigger overlay bet since he starts from the pole in the Gatorade Duel 2 while KB starts from 13th place.

Pick:  Jeff Gordon  

2. Denny Hamlin -120 vs. Jamie McMurray -110 – - Tough matchup.  Denny is one of the top picks to win the Sprint Cup Championship this year but the Gatorade Duel 2 is a 150 mile race meaning that McMurray has a shot.  Denny starts back in 22nd position while JM starts in the 12th position.  I’m backing Jimmie Mac.

Pick:  Jame McMurray

3. Joey Logano -120 vs. Clint Bowyer -110 – - I have no idea why Logano, who starts in 15th position in the Gatorade Duel 2, is the favorite in the NASCAR online sports betting book over Clint Bowyer who starts in position 3.  Is Logano worth it at the odds?  No, he’s not.  Clint is worth backing at the odds.

Pick:  Clint Bowyer 

4. Jeff Burton -115 vs. Carl Edwards -115 – - Burton starts in 4th while Edwards starts in 7th.  I have more faith in Edwards and Roush than I do in JB and Richard Childress.  I’ll go with Edwards because the starting position difference isn’t that great between these two while the online odds are exactly the same.

Pick:  Carl Edwards

5. Greg Biffle -115 vs. David Ragan -115 – - Biff is the one to back in the online sportsbook in this matchup.  Greg stayed out of that accident at the Budweiser Shootout to finish in 5th place.  He starts 5th, while Ragan starts 6th, at the Gatorade Duel 2 on Feb. 17th.  I like Biff to get it done on Thursday because I just feel that his car will be faster than DR’s.

Pick:  Greg Biffle  

6. Martin Truex Jr. -115 vs. David Reutimann -115 – - Both dudes will be in Toyota’s and Reutimann starts only 6 positions ahead of Truex Jr.  Is 6 positions enough for me to recommend backing David in this race matchup?  Actually, considering that everything else is somewhat even in this matchup, yes, it is.
