NASCAR Free Picks for Drivers to Finish in the Top 3 at the Ford 400

I’m betting, and handing out NASCAR free picks on every single NASCAR wagering category for this Sunday’s Ford 400. Why? Because I won’t be able to get my NASCAR fix in until mid-February of 2011.

The Ford 400 is the final Sprint Cup Race of 2010. Excuse me…I need to pat the tear off of my eyes. No, seriously. It’s going to be tough not being able to watch these races on the weekend. You end up getting to know the drivers pretty well and there isn’t a single sport in the world where the stars are as personable as they are in NASCAR.

I love it. Okay, enough of that! Let’s get to my top NASCAR free picks in the Top 3 betting category for the Ford 400.

Where: Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, Florida

When: Nov. 21st, 2010 at 1:00 pm EST

Track: Oval, 1.5 miles

TV: ESPN

Best Bet: Carl Edwards +225

Carl has a great record in the past Sprint Cup races at Homestead-Miami. He finished 4th in 2005, 8th in 2006, 5th in 2007, won the race in 2008 and finished 7th in 2009. Carl’s average finish at Homestead is 6.5, but the real reason to love Carl in this betting category is the fact that he is going off at better NASCAR odds than the other contenders in this. Edwards is a great pick at +225. He’s at the top of my NASCAR free picks list.

Second Best Bet: Kevin Harvick +200

Harvick may have trouble winning the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship. Actually, let’s just be honest and say that KH has virtually no shot of winning the Sprint Cup Championship unless both Jimmie and Denny flat out blow it. But Kevin could definitely get into the Top 3 at Homestead-Miami. He finished 2nd at the Ford 400 in 2008 and 3rd at the Ford 400 in 2009. Like Carl, KH is going off at much kinder odds than both JJ and Denny.

Best Underdog Wager: Clint Bowyer +900

Clint’s never had great success at Homestead, his best finish was 5th in 2008, but his odds in the sportsbook make him a virtual must for my NASCAR free picks list in this betting category. CB is having a wonderful season. He’s won twice and has recorded 7 total Top 5 finishes and 18 total Top 10 finishes. Bowyer could sneak into the Top 3 on Sunday. At the overlaid betting odds, he’s definitely worth a long look as a potential upsetter.

Others to Consider

Denny Hamlin +150 - – Two 3rd place finishes in 5 races and a victory in 2009 at Homestead means that Denny is going to be ultra-tough on Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson +120 – - JJ’s back is against the wall. I’m thinking he’s going to respond beautifully to it.

Tony Stewart +450 – - Decent odds on Smoke to just get into the Top 3 at Homestead-Miami means that he’s a must consider in this betting category even if he hasn’t had even minimal success at the track since 2004.
