NASCAR Betting Odds – Which Drivers Are Good Qualifying Matchup Bets for the Toyota/Save Mart 350?

June 18, 2010

The Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway this Sunday is a road course race.

Because of that, some drivers that NASCAR fans might not be familiar with are going to suit up and try to take down the checkered flag.

Those drivers, like Boris Said and Robby Gordon, are also part of the qualifying matchup betting category in the NASCAR sportsbook.

NASCAR: Toyota/Save Mart 350

  • Where: Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, CA
  • When: Qualifying – June 18th, 2010 at 6:30 pm EST
  • Track: 1.99 mile Road Course with 12 Turns
  • TV: Qualifying – Speed Channel

Qualifying Matchups

  1. Robby Gordon -130 vs. Boris Said Ev – - There isn’t a lot separating these guys. Both are terrific road course drivers. Said actually won the pole for this race in 2003. Gordon ended up winning the actual race in 2003. Said is definitely the “ringer” meaning that he hardly ever shows up unless a race is on a road course. He’s also the better NASCAR bet in this matchup because of the odds.

Pick: Boris Said Ev

  1. Kurt Busch -110 vs. Jeff Gordon -120 – - Kurt won the pole in 2006 and started 3rd in 2008. Gordo won the pole in 2005 and started 5th in 2008. Last year, Gordo started 13th, better than Kurt. I believe Kurt turns the tables on Gordo during qualifying at Sonoma because he’s has a better 2010 overall so far.

Pick: Kurt Busch -110

  1. Jamie McMurray -120 vs. Juan Pablo Montoya -110 – - McMurray started 2nd in 2006 and 1st in 2007. Montoya has never started well at Sonoma. In three years, his best start has been a 17th in 2009. Montoya does finish well at Infineon Raceway, but he never starts well.

Pick: Jamie McMurray -120

  1. Jimmie Johnson -135 vs. Kevin Harvick +105 – - Jimmie’s been all over the place when qualifying at Infineon Raceway. He started 2nd in both 2005 and 2008, 16th in 2006, and 42nd in 2007. Harvick did start 3rd in 2006. He’s worth a shot at the fantastic online NASCAR betting odds.

Pick: Kevin Harvick +105

  1. Kasey Kahne -125 vs. Ryan Newman -105 – - Kasey’s always done well during qualifying at Sonoma. He’s never started worse than 8th since 2006. Newman’s been right there, however, not starting worse than 9th since 2006. Kasey won this race last year, but my money will be behind Newman in the qualifying round. Once again, the NASCAR odds will determine my bet.

Pick: Ryan Newman -105

  1. Marcose Ambrose -150 vs. Tony Stewart +120 – - Ambrose started 7th in 2008 and 3rd in 2009. Smoke can be either hot or cold during qualifying at the Infineon Raceway. I’m going to go with him being hot on Friday because I can’t back Ambrose at those NASCAR odds. Tony has been driving much better lately. Maybe, it carries over to qualifying this Friday.

Pick: Tony Stewart +120
