NASCAR betting: Johnson-ville?

While veteran driver Mark Martin might have the namesake of this week’s stop on the Sprint Cup series , Jimmie Johnson might as well have a statue out in front of the track, and have Martinsville changed to Johnson-ville!

Even though he hasn’t had the greatest start to the season, Jimmie Johnson is in the perfect place to turn it around at Martinsville. Why is that? Well, the defending three-time Sprint Cup Series champion should be the NASCAR betting favorite here, given that he was been victorious in four of the past five races that the good ol’ boys have run here. Most people who evaluate NASCAR odds can agree that Johnson’s mind-boggling success in Virginia can be attributed to his tremendous ability to make a late run.

Martinsville may not be quite as dangerous as Bristol, but it is indeed still a short track. While there may be conflicting theories about how to win on a short track, and what kind of driver is better suited, one thing is certain: A wreck is going to occur. Johnson has an uncanny ability to float near the top of the pack, and as mentioned, make a steaming late run at the end of the race. Therein is the reason why he is so successful. Wrecks tend to happen near the back of the back, and in the middle, where the driving real estate is limited, and cars tend to have mechanical problems and are not in complete control. Drivers running well are up front, and are unlikely to crash, because their car is excellent, and there are few vehicles nearby to run into.

Given his past success, it would be almost foolish not to examine the NASCAR lines and take a chance with Jimmie Johnson. The fact that he’s started off slow in 2009 is a good thing for those betting on NASCAR. As a result, the BetOnline sportsbook odds do not favor him quite as heavily as they did all of last season. You can scoop up that added value on this race at Martinsville, and have your money riding on a man who has won four of the past five races on the track!

NASCAR betting fans, head over to the BetOnline sportsbook and check out the NASCAR odds, NASCAR lines and NASCAR picks offered in the Locker Room area of the website.
