NASCAR Betting – Jimmie Johnson Only 15 Points off of Denny
January 12, 2011
Drama resides in the final race of the 2010 NASCAR Chase as Jimmie Johnson, by virtue of his 5th place finish at the Kobalt Tools 500 last week, cut Denny Hamlin’s lead in the Sprint Cup Chase Standings to only 15 points.
Consequently, JJ’s NASCAR betting odds to win the Sprint Cup Championship are now at +150 while Denny’s are at -200. There’s still some time left to get a great wager in on the winner of the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship!

Odds to Win the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship
Denny Hamlin -200 – - Denny can’t be happy with that 12th place finish last week. I mean, he had finished in the Top 10 in 7 out of the previous 8 Chase races. He had won 2 out of the previous 8 Chase races. Now, because of a measly 12th place finish, he’s in position to lose to big prize 4-time Sprint Cup Champ Jimmie Johnson on Sunday. Denny’s history at Homestead-Miami has been stellar in the past.
He finished 3rd in 2006 and 2007 and won in 2009. Is he worth a bet? Considering that he’s going off at -200 with a 15-point lead over the only guy that can beat him and that he goes to a track he loves…nope. I can’t do it. DH deserves this and is awesome, but 15 points just isn’t enough of a lead for me to back him in this spot. I think that the pressure might get to Denny and -200 doesn’t qualify as “good” NASCAR betting odds.
Worth a wager: No
Jimmie Johnson +150 – - I have to ride with JJ again. To me, Johnson has the guts and the ability to just flat out dominate on Sunday. The man has never won at Homestead-Miami but he’s usually built up a big enough lead for it not to matter. This time, he has to work his way into the Top 5 and hope that Denny doesn’t or, well, win the damn race! If there is any driver in the history of NASCAR that can do it, it’s Jimmie Johnson. Since the 25th at the Sylvania 300, Jimmie has finished in the Top 10 in every single Chase race. That’s eight Top 10 finishes in a row. I’m not 100% sure he beats Denny for the Sprint Cup Championship this Sunday but given the odds in the NASCAR online betting sportsbook, he’s definitely the bet.
Worth a wager: Yes
Kevin Harvick +800 – - Is it possible for Kevin Harvick to make up 46 points on Denny Hamlin at Homestead-Miami this Sunday? Yes, it’s definitely possible, but is it likely? Not really. The +800 on KH is attractive and Harvick has finished 2nd and 3rd in the last two races at Homestead but the truth is that Denny and Jimmie are just too far ahead of him in order for Kevin to win the Sprint Cup Championship on Sunday unless he actually wins the race and the other two finish badly.
Worth a wager: No
