NASCAR betting – Finding value at Martinsville

March 28, 2009

NASCAR betting sharps are likely to have their eyes on the big names this weekend at Martinsville for the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500. Experts are tagging super successful drivers such as Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon as the favorites for this race, however if you look at the NASCAR odds, there isn’t too much value in betting on these drivers.

Short track racing arguably built the foundation of NASCAR betting in the beginning of the sport. However, there are handful of newcomers who have become quite adept at racing in this dangerous territory, and they can help BetOnline customers rake in some nice coin this Sunday if they are successful in taking home the checkered flag.

Let’s take a look at some sleepers for Sunday’s five hundred mile cruise!

Marcos Ambrose

The Australian open wheel wonder has become quite a popular driver amongst the North American stock car driving crowd in less than a year. Ambrose is a very stealthy driver who can maneuver his way around short tracks very well, as evidenced by his tenth place finish last weekend. The Aussie is a bit on the aggressive side, but some suggest that is better suited for short tracks anyways. At least you know he’s driving to win. Ambrose could be a great value pick this weekend.

Juan-Pablo Montoya

What is it about open wheel drivers that makes them so successful on short tracks? It must be that they’re accustomed to constant movement, constant turning, and close quarters from their time overseas. Nonetheless, Juan-Pablo Montoya has found a niche here in North America when the Sprint Cup Series heads to short tracks such as Martinsville. Like Ambrose, he is an aggressive driver who has developed a feud or two already during his time in NASCAR. He has all the talent in the world to shock the NASCAR betting community and pull out a victory on Sunday.

Kasey Kahne

The man behind the No. 9 Dodge has encountered his share of bad luck over the past two seasons, and most of it has come at this track! Things have been turning around for Kasey Kahne this season however, as he slowly creeps into championship title contention. Kahne has oodles of talent as well, and is capable of winning on a short track if given the right equipment, and if he can avoid the misfortune of a wreck as well. He should give you good value on NASCAR lines, so head over to the BetOnline sportsbook and add him to a three-pack parlay!
