NASCAR Betting – Everything’s Bigger at Texas Motor Speedway

April 5, 2009

NASCAR betting sharps are excited, as the stock car season is well underway, and the contenders and pretenders are beginning to separate from one another. As the old saying goes, “everything is bigger in Texas,” and nowhere does that stand up more than at the home track of the Lonestar State. This isn’t a track for the weak, and thus, the big names tend to prevail here, which makes life much easier for BetOnline sportsbook customers.

Arguably, the biggest name, and the best driver in the sport goes by the name of Jimmie Johnson. The man behind the wheel of the No. 48 car broke through and won his first race of the season, and saddled himself in fourth place in the Sprint Cup Championship standings. As most NASCAR betting sharps agree, it’s seemingly only a matter of time until Johnson climbs to the top of the standings once again. Jimmie has won the past three championships with relative ease, and his performance last week is bad news for the rest of the field moving forward.

Other than Johnson, perhaps the most consistent driver of the decade has been Matt Kenseth, who is also off to a stellar start this season. The super safe veteran is always a good play for those analyzing NASCAR lines because he will always make it to the finish line—which is more than can be said about most racers on intermediate tracks. The trouble is, will the conservative Kenseth, or the confident Kenseth show up on Sunday? This will inflate the NASCAR odds a little bit for you, which makes it tough not to at least take a chance on Kenseth.

As always though, you must watch out for Kyle Busch. There’s no question that “Rowdy” can win on absolutely any track, but on the higher banking is where he thrives. Kyle has four top six finishes at Texas in the past five races here, meaning he is on the verge of capturing that elusive victory. If anyone can contend with Johnson for the championship this season, it will be Busch, simply based on the number of wins he will collect, and the points that come with those victories.

Stick with the big names if you can this week, because this is one of the toughest tracks on the circuit. Head over to the BetOnline sportsbook for all the NASCAR odds, NASCAR lines and NASCAR picks for this week’s duel!
