San Francisco 49ers (3-7 SU, 3-7 ATS) at Arizona Cardinals (3-7 SU, 3-7 ATS)

Football Betting Odds:

San Francisco: PK

Arizona: PK

Total: 40

While this matchup may not be glamorous to sports fans or even the most adamant of bettors, it is an important game, with both teams still having an outside shot at an NFC West title.

Starting with Arizona, this is a group that has clearly yet to recover from former Pro Bowl quarterback Kurt Warner’s offseason retirement. A once promising offense is now one of the league’s worst, as the Cardinals rank 31st in total yardage, putting up just 275 yards per game. Their pass offense is getting just 191 of those. And really, when you look at those stats, it’s not hard to see why he Cardinals have lost five straight.

Under center this Monday night will be veteran Derek Anderson, who won the job in the preseason, and then lost it again just a few weeks later to rookie Max Hall. With Anderson again back at quarterback, the NFL Betting Advice to you would be to be very wary of him. On the season, Anderson is completing an abysmal 53.7 percent of his passes, and has tossed seven touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Of course, things aren’t going much better on the other sideline, as San Francisco is coming off maybe their worst loss of the season, a 21-0 defeat to Tampa Bay at home. In that game, the anemic 49ers offense looked as bad as ever, as they put up just 189 yards of total offense in the loss.

Even more concerning if you’re a San Francisco fan, is that the supposed savior at quarterback- Troy Smith- finally showed some signs of weakness against Tampa Bay. Smith had been good, but hardly great in his first two starts, leading the 49ers to back-to-back wins over Denver and St. Louis. However this past Sunday, he completed just 16 of 31 passes for 148 yards, his worst output in a 49ers uniform. It didn’t help that San Francisco’s usually solid running back Frank Gore was has his toughest game of the season. Gore rushed for just 23 yards on 12 carries.

In the end, trying to hand out NFL Betting Advice here is nearly impossible, but we’re going to try to anyway, and tell you to take San Francisco.

As bad as the 49ers were last Sunday, at least they’ve shown a few signs of life over the last few weeks with those previously mentioned wins. As for Arizona, well they’re just horrible, and have not only lost five straight, but two straight at home. Even University of Phoenix Stadium (which was once one of the best home field advantages in the NFL) is no longer a sanctuary.

In the end, San Francisco will win this game in ugly fashion, but they’ll win it none the less.

The NFL Betting Advice here is to wager on the 49ers…. And then cover your eyes!
