Monday Night Football Betting – Dolphins To Demolish Patriots
October 2, 2010
Monday Night Football betting newsflash: the New England Patriots aren’t that good. As Tom Brady laces up to visit the Miami Dolphins, the one thing that Bill Belichik must be overdoing is trying to figure out a way to stop the turf munching offense led by Chad Henne. Good luck with that, because if the Patriots have proven anything, it’s that their defense is totally unreliable.
The 31-23 end score of Miami’s heart breaking loss to the New York Jets doesn’t completely tell the story. Chad Henne and Brandon Marshall pushed the offense down the field for 436-yards of total offense, while the team also went 7-of-15 on third-down efficiency.

Simply put, Miami was extremely effective against one of the better defenses in the league. What ultimately killed them in that game was Jason Allen at cornerback getting exposed for big plays by Mark Sanchez.
In the Monday Night Football betting matchup agasint Brady, the Patriots won’t have those same chances. Sean Smith is back across the field from Vonta Davis to protect the secondary. I’m not saying that Brady and Moss won’t give the Dolphins some headaches, but they’re going to have a lot more trouble than you’d imagine.

Monday Night Football Betting Line: New England -1.0 (46.5)
It certainly doesn’t help New England’s chances that they’re 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against Miami overall. When visiting the Dolphins, they’re 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games and just 6-15 SU in their past 21 road games in Miami.
Want me to make it worse for New England in Monday Night Football betting? No problem! The Patriots are just 1-5 SU in their last 6 games on the road, and have a terrible 1-3-1 ATS record in those games.
New England’s defense is going to be exposed as they get ripped apart by Miami’s tricky offense as well. They’ve allowed 260.3 passing yards per game (ranked 25th in the league) and 119.0 rushing yards against (20th). The fact that they let the Buffalo Bills squeeze 30-points on the scoreboard is shameful.
While betting against Belichik can often be hazardous for your health, even a genius like him can’t make build a championship worthy defense out of hay and mud. The Patriots have lost a lot of what made their defense special, and their starters are mostly younger than 26-years old. They don’t have the experience to be resilient against an offense like the one Miami boasts.
For those of you pointing at Miami’s first two games of the season, you need to cut them some slack. They were on the road in both of those contests. In Sun Life Stadium, Chad Henne piled up 363 yards of offense, and hit Brandon Marshall 10 times for 166 yards and a touchdown.
My favorite part about Henne is his fearlessness when passing to Marshall. He targeted his favorite receiver 17 times against the Jets and was relentless even in double coverage. That type of bravery may seem foolish, but everything about Henne’s game should boost the Miami Dolphins in Monday Night Football betting.
Henne is as calm, resilient, patient, mechanically sound, strong and smart as they come. Those are all words we use to describe Tom Brady, but Monday will belong to the Dolphins as they terrorize this defense. Brady and Moss can do enough damage to push the OVER, but if you’re Monday Night Football betting needs some encouragement, then side with the home team.
