Monday Night Football – FIRE on these 2 Solid MNF Plays

September 13, 2011

Besides the fact that MNF will now be on ESPN through 2021 (golf clap), it’s the first MNF of the season! We have two games to open up this training camp delayed season on MNF.

Que the music. Duh DuhDuhDuhhhhh. I had to open up the Monday Night Football double feature with something classic. We also have two classic AFC Divisional matchups to swing it into gear. If you’re looking for a close game, I would suggest staying up until the later game goes between Oakland and Denver.

These may not be the two best games of the week, but what else you going do on Monday night?

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins – Monday, September 12 at 7:00 ET ESPN-TV
Sun Life Stadium (75,192) – Miami Gardens, Florida

New England Patriots -7 -105 (ML -350)
Miami Dolphins +7 -115 (ML +290)
Over/Under Total – 45 ½

The Miami fans are frothing with an appetite for a winning team, and the Dolphins better show that Chad Henne is a worthy quarterback to lead this team back to glory.

The fact that fans were actually chanting another quarterback’s name they wanted at Dolphin practices was insulting enough before you even knew the other QB’s name; Kyle Orton. Gomer Kyle actually won out on getting the starting job in Denver after being listed below Tim Tebow to start training camp. I don’t consider that a great accomplishment.

We do have a couple sharp defensive minded coaches here in Bill Belichick and Mike Nolan, and I would expect that to be more of the telltale of this game’s summary when it climaxes. I can hear all you blowhahdsyanking my wankuh about the Pats blowin’ the doors out of all those totals in preseason, but this is the preseason Spahhhky!

Belichick will have his defense decimating this poor (multi-million dollar poor) QB Chad Henne and his receiving corps. This isn’t Henne’s fault, and it is a damn shame if the Miami faithful go South (except to the Beach) on this guy without giving him a chance.

The bottom line is that Miami can’t score unless the players are at The Clevelander on Sunday afternoon stripper day outside of NFL football season. The Patriots are not going to be brutal by most interpretations of that word. This spells one letter D and U.

DUH it’s going UNDER

Bet UNDER 45.5 Total Points in Patriots at Dolphins game.

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos – Monday, September 12 at 10:15 ET ESPN-TV
Mile High Stadium (76,125) – Denver, Colorado

Oakland Raiders +3 -115 (ML +140)
Denver Broncos -3 -105 (ML -160)
Over/Under Total – 40

These two AFC Division rivals have been beating each other up forever, but I expect more fumbling, figuring and following in this football game.

You probably don’t consider the Raiders a powerhouse NFL team, but they shine like one in the AFC West Division the last couple years. Oakland actually whipped some Bronco ass last year winning both times by a total score of 98-37.

Denver has had some problems building back their offense and even had Tim Tebow the number 1 quarterback to start this season. Well, I love Tebow and his infectious genuine attitude, but he is just not an NFL pro-style quarterback. They made the right choice to make Kyle Orton the starter, but not even the NFL leader in receiving yards with 1,448 Brandon Lloyd can help them out of this one.

Oakland improved from 31st to 6th last year in the NFL with 410 points. They has less than half that many points before then offensive coordinator Hue Jackson took over to open that offense up.

They played Denver twice last year and spanked them 59-14 when they played here at Mile High Stadium. They also beat them 39-23 at home with over 500 yards of total offense. Expect more of the same here against the worst defensive team in the NFL last year in yards per game (400.6) and scoring allowed per game (29.4).

FIRE on Oakland +3 and on the Moneyline (+140) over Denver
