The Eagles were shocked 17-12 by the Washington Redskins back in Week 4 in a game where the quarterback Michael Vick was smoked in a collision that left him with a rib injury, which kept him off the field for a few weeks. NFL betting fans should remember that Philadelphia looked awfully bad when Kevin Kolb entered in that game, but all that can be in the past right now.

The Eagles have won three of their last four games, including a 26-24 victory against the Indianapolis Colts; what amazed me the most was looking at their defense handling Peyton Manning and his offense with out any problems.

On the other hand, the Washington Redskins are coming off a bye week, but before that, there was a pretty heated controversy about the quarterback position with Donovan McNabb and the head coach Mike Shanahan.

McNabb will start this weekend, but things might not be great between them and this could affect the outcome of the game for the ‘Skins. McNabb has thrown seven touchdowns, but has also eight interceptions and hasn’t looked great in a while.

However, football betting fanatics should realize that the key man will be Michael Vick. He is playing amazing, both throwing and running the ball, as he has thrown seven TDs and is yet to made a mistake with the ball in his hands.

Vick could be the best player in the first half of the season because he has made things happen on a team that not many believed could find a winning way.

Consider these betting trends: Philadelphia is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games, 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games but 30-12 ATS revenging loss by 7 pts or less. Washington is 6-14 SU in its last 20 games and 0-2 ATS after a bye week.

Simmons’ pick: Take the Eagles to cover.
